Anyway, the moral of this story is you have to try the headsets for yourself to decide what's best for you.
If you have the time, please share your feedback in our User Reviews section. I agree, to some extent, it's a personal choice. However, these reviews do help.

I've been using the Sony Ericsson HBH-660 for almost a month now and it really is top notch. I still get a bit of static, but it's when I'm more than 10 or so feet away from my Treo 650.
I still use my IOGear GBE211 as a secondary headset when the battery dies on my HBH-660, which I get about 4 days of standby and talk time out of a single charge.
So far, I'm pretty happy spending the $80 I did. I notice the one site I bought it from (malcomwireless.com) is now showing out of stock. I would guess there are other sources to obtain this headset.

Trying another tact...
after reading this thread, I think it might be good to try another approach:
I'd like to purchase a bluetooth headset that does the following:
- Allows me to both speak (on calls) and listen to my mp3 player.
- Allows me to use the phone in close range of the speaker, as well as getting decent range.
- Is not limited to only working with my treo.
- Is not overly expensive (under $100 would be nice!)
- Is sturdy (I'm hard on electronics)
- Preferably, is an overhead earpad type headset, as opposed to a behind the neck thing, or an earbud thing. (given a choice of a set that is over the head with earbuds and behind the neck with earpads, I'd choose the earpads...)
- Is reliable and gets good life off of its battery with continuous mp3 play.
Given those parameters - any suggestions?
