Not impressed by the Sony Akono 650 Headset
I am confused with regards to people who rave about this headset - I have not been very impressed with it at all. The headset does not get loud enough, so unless you're in a quiet room you really have to struggle to hear people. That has been my biggest complaint with the headset.
I'm going in search for another headset, any other recommendations?
Thanks!

I have thw Sony Ericson HBH-608 and I having the same problem with it in my pocket.
It looses the signal and I have to keep on reconnecting it.
Are all so short ranged.

Sony HBH-662
I have the HBH-662 and I've NEVER had a problem with range. My range is more than advertised. I've even gone upstairs and still talked. As far as pairing goes, I paired it when I first got it just over 4 months ago and haven't had to re-pair once.

I am not a testing lab but after doing my homework I went with a Jabra 500. It is very nice and easy to use. Took about 30 seconds to sut-up, and works perfect.
The unit came with several ear gels so this might be a choice to consider.

Problems with Jabra JX-10
I can recommend thinking twice about the Jabra JX-10. While stylish and sheek, it hasn't delivered the goods! I eagerly awaited the arrival of my JX-10 and I'm very dissapointed. I let it charge overnight. Paired it the next morning and set everthing up right. I had very poor reception unless holding my Treo 650 (Sprint) next to the headset. Pretty much defeats the purpose of wearing a wireless headset! If the Treo is greater than 2 feet away all I get is very loud cracking and then the call is dropped. It definately looks "cooler" than most BT headsets. I wish I could say I had the same results as the other reviewers but unfortunately this was not the case. I am attempting to send it back and will try something else. I wish there was one headset that everyone consistently says" works great, no crackles, good range from the phone." Any suggestions? I've seen lots of reviews saying the HBH-662 and Scala-500 work good but then again, many have the same trouble? I am begining to think that the Treo is the problem.

I must reconsider the previous review. After trying 3 different BT headsets and none of them working, I took my phone back to Sprint. The techs decided that the BT receiver in the phone was faulty. I got a new replacement (not a refurb, thank goodness!) and tried the Scala-500. Lo And Behold, it works! I wish I had the JX-10 still so I could "re-test" it. I'm sure my impression would be much different. So, bottom line, disregard my above opinion.

Reviews of both the Sony Ericsson HBH-660 and Cardo Scala 500 are here on the site. I've used the HBH-660 and it's been great. I agree with an earlier poster who said these two headsets are consistently recommended by other Treo users.
I'd encourage anyone who has had a good or bad experience with a particular headset to add their review to our User Reviews section.

new headsets
I use a Jabra BT 250, and I would rate it just B+...it's just o.k. But I've just read about a new Plantronics headset the Voyager 510SL, it's a little pricey at $299, but want to know if anyone else has seen it, or better, has used it, and how that one performed?

I had the Plantrontics Discovery 640. I loved the headsets size and that I didn't need to use the ear hook. However it also had a very long delay between the Treo ringing and the caller's voice coming through on the headset. The range was horrible, if I got more than aobut 8" away from the TREO it would start with the static. I noticed today that Pa1m has a version of this headset & I am wondering if they will correct the range problem.

I have the 640-just got it this week-and I have to say it has worked the best of all my BT headsets.
Good range w/o static, pretty good in noisy situations, pairs quickly.I used to find that I had to repair my other headsets each time I shut the BT on my phone on and off.I was going to go with the 645 because it had DSP,but went with the 640 because of multipoint (I have more than one phone that I use).
I also saw that Palm has a version available on its website-but I think I will be sticking with the 640.Its my understanding the Palm version is the same as the 645 but includes a charging tip for the Treo-if this is the case,I may decide to try the 645 and get it from the same eBay seller I got my 640 from and just get the Treo tip.
My previous headsets were BT800,BT250v and the Palm Treo Headset.
