recommendations on 650 Bluetooth headsets?
Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations on bluetooth headsets for the 650 -- particularly for headsets which will help to amplify the volume, and also headsets which can accomodate my very small ear canals!
Thanks!

The Treo TWH 650 headset is good so far, & it sits over the top of your ear, not in the canal... HTH
I'm not weird... I'm gifted!!!

bluespoon ax
I recently got a bluespoon ax. I actually have to turn the volume down now because it is so loud. It is also incredibly small and comfortable, so you don't have to look like you are piloting a starship when you wear it. They sell for about $99.00 and so far I have no complaints. I bought mine online.

Have a look at the Sony Ericson HBH-660.

I've been trying three different models--The Motorola HB820 (the one packaged for and sold by Verizon), the Belkin F8T061, and the Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset. I purchased the Belkin and Logitech at CompUSA.
I like the Belkin form factor, especially the charging stand that (using magnets) captures the headset into position. The Logitech seems to provide the loudest sound, and though I haven't tried it yet, with the windscreen I expect it to work well with the top down on my car. The Motorola works reasonably well, too; I was able to have a conversation at 70MPH with the top down (but with the windows up).
The problem I have with all three is this: I wear the Treo in a soft leather case on my left hip, and wear the earpieces in my right ear. In this configuration, I get bad reception on the earpieces--all three of them, about the same poor quality. If I move the earpiece to my left ear, I get acceptable quality. Same if I move the Treo off my hip. Tests tonight (walking around my back yeard, leaving and then listening to voicemail messages) bore this out.
I'm not a moose, understand. I'm 6'2" and about 210Lbs. But apparently those pounds of flesh are enough to screw up a bluetooth signal. I guess I can switch ears, but it's hard to believe that I'm so thickheaded (though my wife would probably claim to have expected such results). Old habits die hard; I've been wearing a pager and/or phone on my left hip for the last 14 years so moving those to the right side would screw me up much worse than using the headset in my left ear.
Anyone else had a similar experience? Anyone found a better headset solution?

You should have a look at the Sony Ericson HBH-660. Unlike other headsets I've had, I can walk the full 30 ft away from my Treo before the headset starts to crackle and breakup.

I actually came here to post the same question. One Mac related site that I visit (Deal Mac) often has deals on Bluetooth headsets.
I don't really use a headset that much but with Bluetooth, I may do it more, especially while driving (I hated that wire and seatbelts).
Among the recent deals listed here:
DealMac Bluetooth Roundup
Any experience or suggestions?

In all of my Treo'ing experiences, the 2 best headsets that keep getting high recommendations for the Treo are the Sony Ericson HBH-660 and the Scala 500.

I had the HS820 and the HS850. I couldn't get either of them to work as I had hoped they would. I tried the new Jabra 800 and found it was incompatible with the TREO 650. I decided to do a little research on-line instead of asking the employees at Verizon and Circuit City to suggest a good option.
I found a headset by a company called Tekkeon. They have a headset called The EZ Talker Mini. I was a little sceptical as I had never heard of them. After reading many glowing reviews I decided to give it a try. What a difference!! For one, I can hear all of my calls without haveing the headset volume turned as loud as possible and still straining to hear anyone! When I make a call, the headset automatically engages. This never happened with either Motorola headset. It is lighter and easier to fit on the ear. It really is a great headset. I have not set up voice dialing yet as I wanted to make sure I was going to keep the 650 before I paid for the software for voice dialing but I spoke to Tekkeon customer support and they said they have heard fro customers that it works fine. Here is a link to the headset.

I purchased mine from ecost.com. I don't have the receipt in front of me but I believe it was less than $60 with shipping.
Hope it helps...

True...also the PalmOne OEM
These seem to be the 3 best rated. I'm leaning towards the Palm as its the only one that has all features fully functional (redail, 3 way etc) from the headset. The Sony has caller ID, but I've yet to understand when that would be useful unless you keep the unit covered and hang the headset on your neck or such.
