Treo 650 and Motorola HS850 Headset
I have recently purchased a Treo 650 and a Mot HS850 BT headset. Pairing of the two devices was very simple, but the sound quality on the BT headset is terrible. The headset has a lot of static with the phone within 1 foot of the earpiece. In addition, the caller on the other end of the line says I sound terrible.
Does anyone have this combination and like they way everything sounds? I hope to excange the headset out tomorrow for a new one with hopes that it is a defective headset.
If not, what do you recommend in the same price range ($100.00)

same here...
I had the same experience with the motorola 850, I returned it and got the palm headset, much better! Still somewhat low on volume but much better than the 850!

Same result here. However, my wife got the HS850 for her Treo and she says it works fine (except for the poor battery life, which the Treo headset does much better also).

Guys, have you upgraded your phones to the latest ROM I think mine is 1.20 ENA. I found that this has improved bluetooth reception & volume.

Hi folks just got the treo 650+the motorola 850 combo works great except for the poor battery life on the headset

I had no luck with the Moto HS850 and Treo 650 together. I tried two different headsets and both worked terribly. Especially the volume.
Am using the Jabra BT 350 now and it works much better. This unit even allows the call to be automatically transferred from the Treo to the Headset once the call is placed. Something the motorola would not allow.
It is also easier to get on your ear, and even has a piece that protudes into your ear a little to direct the volume better. Very happy with the Jabra. And its only $80 at Verizon.

Treo BT Headsets
I know there was a pretty active thread on this some time ago, because I posted to it.
I have had my 650 for a year and have used a number of headsets. I have a Cingular TREO650 and the firmware is the latest greatest ( thank you for the bluetooth DUN).
The Motorola was the second headset I bought back last January. I still have the Motorola 850 and I tried it after my latest update. It just doesn't work right with the Treo. It is slow to connect and it often needs to be reset and reinitialized.
I know someone who had the same problems with this headset on a Sony Ericson phone. I got her a new sony Akono 610 and she likes it better.
I have used the original Treo Jabra headset and it was not good. The current Treo Headset is OK. I really liked a Sony Akono that I got last year, it had caller ID- I left it at a restaraunt and rather thatn get another I opted for the cheaper current Treo Model.
I recently decided to try the NEW Akono 610 and it is very good- extended range and good loud sound.
I like it better than the TREO headset but the TREO headset is not a bad one it is a safe way to go.
Based on reviws, this Motorola seems to work exceptionally well with Motorola phones. I don't have anything against it except, it is the most expensive headset I have and it does not work well at all with a Treo 650.
If there is a trick to it post it. I have tried various BT hacks and neither they nor Firmware updates have made this Moto work right with a 650...
I suggest the use it with a Razr hack.
