Treo 650 & Motorola HS850 Headset Problems
Okay for some reason, there are times when I try to make a call and I hit the speed dial button for that number and flip open the headset and it won't connect, and if I hit the MFB (Multi Function Button) it will disconnect the call. Or the call won't be transferred over to the headset from the handset, and if I press the MFB, nothing happens, no transfer takes place.
Or there are times where the headset just won't connect to the phone to transfer the call from the handset to the headset at all. Maybe I just don't have the hang it it yet or there's something else going on here, but can you guys please shed some light on this for me please? Thanks.

This is probably not the answer you were looking for but take it from someone who went through all of the same problems and then some as you are describing. My solution... GET RID OF THE MOTOROLA HEADSET! I had the HS820 and the HS850. I couldn't get either of them to work as I had hoped they would. I tried the new Jabra 800 and found it was incompatible with the TREO 650. I decided to do a little research on-line instead of asking the employees at Verizon and Circuit City to suggest a good option.
I found a headset by a company called Tekkeon. They have a headset called The EZ Talker Mini. I was a little sceptical as I had never heard of them. After reading many glowing reviews I decided to give it a try. What a difference!! For one, I can hear all of my calls without haveing the headset volume turned as loud as possible and still straining to hear anyone! When I make a call, the headset automatically engages. This never happened with either Motorola headset. It is lighter and easier to fit on the ear. It really is a great headset. I have not set up voice dialing yet as I wanted to make sure I was going to keep the 650 before I paid for the software for voice dialing but I spoke to Tekkeon customer support and they said they have heard fro customers that it works fine. Here is a link to the headset.

I purchased mine from ecost.com. I don't have the receipt in front of me but I believe it was less than $60 with shipping.
Hope it helps...

Motorola HS850
Same problems, taking all of ours back. The lag time from the time you answer the phone and the motorola's 850 allowing you to barely hear the call forces people to hang up thinking that we terminated the call or their was a phone issue. 5 thumbs down on this product

Mine seems to work fine. I had trouble figureing out how to set it up, but once I did, no problem.

I'm actually having a problem with my BT800. There IS in incredibliy lag time of about 14 seconds...
It takes a darn 14 seconds to connect to the phone, and sometimes, you have to play around by clicking the enable speaker" button.
Its extremely frustrating.

I had this exact same problem when I had the Jabra BT800.

The BT800 DOES NOT work with the Treo 650. I got this information directl from Jabra support. As a matter of fact it now states on their website that the 800 is not compatible with the Treo 650. I bought one and it worked 10% of the time. I sent it back when their supports people told me it was incompatible.

Wow... that makes me incredibly frustrated. At first i remember that it HAD been compatible...
Edit: I am using the HS810 right now with my 650 and it is frustrating also because i always have to click the button on the headset to connect. It just doesnt engage on its own. Why the hell is this?

I got the Motorola headset because that is what the Cingular salesperson said I needed to go with the phone. I wish I had done some research before purchasing it. I'm disappointed with the lag times in answering a call. I assumed that the headpiece would do everything the 650 said you could do with a Bluetooth headset. I didn't know this model only had limited capabilities. There are several other headsets that I have seen since that has more capabilities for $30 - $50 less money.
