    Default Cingular 1.17 update

Ok. I admit it. I have problems, but nothing that medication in heavy doses can't handle. I, like a fool, updated my phone to the 1.17 update. Now, my bloody phone lights up every 2 minutes for no reason. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been foolish enough to update and, if so, have you experienced any ill affects.

    Default 1.17 crashed my unit

    Dread,

My 650 was having that problem before (lighting up), but not every 2 minutes. Anyway, I tried to update my phone.....Big mistake!!! I am watching it re-boot over and over and over and over and.....well you get the point.

This is the first time I have ever tried updating my phone. Does anyone know of a better update than 1.17? Maybe 1.15. Can it still be retrieved somewhere?

I tried twice to update to 1.17. Both times the installer/updater did not finish and I received a message saying something like, "Your sync was stopped before completion. Your files were not all backed up. Go to HotSync log for more info".....and then it just re-boots continuously.

Guess I'll just have to do another hard reset and give up.

    Default Problems with 1.17

I have installed 1.17 three times. The third time it completed. It was working good for a while but now if I leave the phone on and do nothing for a while, the phone is frozen and I must soft reset. Help!

    Default I thought...

So I thought updates were supposed to work better than the previous version. I know not in every case, but you would think not to this extent.

How do we check to see what version we have? I checked but there are tons of different version types for different things.

I haven't tried it (my phone is locked), but I believe it would require unlocking again. If you have the GSM unlocked model, then you shouldn't apply the Cingular update. If you have Cingular, then you might have to unlock the phone after the update.
