Curious if anyone is using Cingular service and the price of their data plans. I'm looking to move from Sprint, but I pay $10 per month for unlimited data. I use my email every 10 minutes or so...web not so much. Also, where are you located and how is the phone service compared to the others?

TIA
Chris

I signed up for their Media Works plan for $19.99 a couple of months back but I hear rumors now that this plan is no longer available to the treo 600.

Includes:
1500 Text Messages
200 MMS
Unlimited wireless Internet Express (GPRS)

Some are still successful at adding it without mentioning that you have a 600 and others aren't.
I believe for the 600 they want something like $39.99 per month for unlimited data.

The service has been very good for me in So California. Being a sales rep and spending most of my time driving all over the L.A. basin and Central Coast but then again I have no way of comparing it to other service providers as both my last treo (270) and current treo (600) have been on Cingular's network.

Thank you sir. With new Sprint plans at $15, then $20 sounds reasonable. $39 is more in the area of Verizon from what I'm hearing.

I use t-mobiles data plan at $19.99 per month unlimited. I am thinking about moving to Cingular and I was just at the Cingular store where I was informed that their unlimited data plan is $39.99 OUCH.

I had no problem getting the Media Works plan for Cingular. I signed up for the phone online, but called Cingular to activate. Although I selected Media Works online (non-Cingular store), Cingular didn't have me on file as wanting Media Works. That being said, adding it was a breeze. I called the 800 number and I'm up and running. Works great. Great price to boot.

I just bought my Treo from a Cingular store and they gave me the Media Works package for $19.99. That includes unlimited data plan and some messages and stuff like that. That doesn't appear on their website, and I've seen other Cingular authorized dealers websites that say you need to pay $39.99 for the unlimited data plan. But I just asked the manager at the local store here and she was very reassuring that you could indeed get the regular media works package with the Treo. hth

Default Cingular plan

I just signed up with Cingular after purchasing a 650 and have the expensive pda-connect plan. This is on-the-heels of using the Sprint PCS Vision plan on my old 300. I read somewhere that Cingular may come up with a less-expensive plan in the near future - whether that will be available to current users remains to be seen, but we can hope!

I have the Media Works (which I believe is discontinued). I'm sure something has replaced it. You could always try calling a Cingular CSR and see if they can downgrade you to a similar plan.

Cingular advertises unlimited internet for 19.99 a month. I signed up for it last month. This month they tell me that they didn't know that I have a Treo 650 and that the plan I signed up applies to phones and not pda's. They now quote me 19.99 for 5 meg, 29.99 for 10 meg, 39.99 for 20 meg, and 44.99 for unlimited. I haven't been able to find this info on their website so i cancelled my data plan for the time being.
