according to the Cingular Website, they offer Mobi-TV. Its going to be more money. Its been a while since I looked, but I think it was like another $10.00 per month. If you have unlimited data plan, you can buy it from Mobi. I don't think Edge performance is going to be enough to stream video to your Treo though . . . I haven't tried it myself, so I don't know for sure, but from some of the things I have read on the net, and even here in this forum, Streaming Video is not exactly reliable, depending upon your location/provider. And since Cingular has yet to offer something comparable to EVDO, I wouldn't be taking the plunge just yet . . . My $.02

According to everything I've seen...it's included in the MEdia Net Max plan unlimited. It's just that I'll need the software to use it. If that's the case...I won't be getting it...I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks.

Actually, you are right! They are offering the new mediamax that does indeed include video. I am not sure how a Treo owner would currently access it. It sounds like it is something built into the other phone's interface. Once activated, you just click it. I looked at the areas that it is available in, and its not in my area currently. If you find out how to activate it, let us know. That s a pretty good deal for the new max plan. I am currently paying $25.00 per month to get unlimited data, and 200 text messages a month. the new max plan will give me unlimited, 200 text messages and soon, video!!!

Do they offer Max to PDA/Treo owners? Be careful not to change out of a "grandfathered" plan if the new plan isn't meant for Treo owners.

Is it me or does Cingular have a confusing lineup. I've switched to Verizon, so I'm paying a bundle for data -- but I still don't understand Cingular. MediaNet, Media Max... and so on.

It IS confusing! and your right! From the best I can tell, its not available to Treo owners. At least if it is, I can't find out how a Treo owner would activate it. Reading their web site on the CV (cingular video) all you do is activate the service and click on the CV icon in the interface. That reveals all the content currently available. Pretty hard to get to work if you don't have that icon . . .

But as far as losing a grandfathered plan, its actually cheaper than the current "unlimited MediaNet" package. Unlimited MediaNet was just that, for $20 per month. This new max plan offers unlimited data, 200 text/MMS messages and CV for $20 per month! They also offer a further (to further confuse you) max plan that includes more text messages for $30 per month.

Of course you still fall into the medianet for non-pdas vs PDA connect for PDA's and how cingular breaks its own rules to accomodate its customers, ripping off some, while gladly accomadating others . . . And when its new high speed data becomes available, I only see it getting more confusing . . . .

Yeah...I don't get it either. I have one person at Cingular tell me that there's a CV file I can download and it will work on my PDA...I had the Media Bundle with 1000 messages and 5 mb...and then he upgraded me to the Media Max with 200 mess and unlimited data...$19.99 per month. NOT $39.99. Then I call customer service and they don't even know what I'm talking about. So...I go back into a Cingular store and I talk to the manager and she tells me that I have to download MobiTV and pay their service fee for it to work...and that's how their going to be running Cingular Video. HOWEVER, I visit the site and it says that the only things that you pay for the service for is the HBO stuff....my biggest issue is that NOBODY knows what the right answer is and I get MANY different answers. They need to train their workers on their stuff BEFORE they release it.
