Media Net and SMS - Treo Forums

Hi! I am new to the forums! I have a question about MediaNet and SMS service.

If I have media net unlimited and want to use Mundu or any other instant messaging service will I be charged? or will it be free since I am already paying media net. thank you

Hi, I had the same question last month and didn't receive a definate answer. I'm using Verichat with Cingular PDA unlimited data plan and was not charged for any text messages. So I'm guessing that Mondu would use your internet connection also to send IMs instead of the SMS/Cingular text messages.

This question comes up a lot on these forums. The only way I know how to explain it is this way: If you send an SMS or receive one from a PHONE number, you will be charged per message. But if you are using an application that sends messages through chat programs such as Verichat/IM+/Agile Messenger/Toccer/etc you will not be charged per message. So if you have an unlimited data plan and are using a data connection based IM program, you are OK . . . .
