Exclamation Greatest idea since sliced bread

I have a bluetooth keyboard that I often use when "traveling light", but the big drawback is the small screen size. I have often commented that someone should make a keyboard/screen combination to use with the Treo.

    Default What were they thinking?

C'mon Palm. I was expecting something new and revolutionary and you give me.... <insert fanfare> THE FOLEO? </insert fanfare>

Why would I want to buy (and lug around) yet another laptop that runs Linux? Most of my applications that I run on the Treo are there because I like the portability of my Treo.

Besides, I run Windows Mobile and Windows Vista. Linux? Please.

I use the office productivity software on my desktop to do most of my email and document editing. If I really need to edit on the road, I'll bring my much more powerful, fully featured laptop with me, that (oh by the way) already synchs with my Treo.

Give me the software that you developed for your laptop, so I can put it on my laptop and let me compare how well it keeps things synched with my Treo, but don't try to sell me another laptop. Not unless your laptop is going to blow away the one I already purchased and from where I sit, the Foleo ain't it.

That is kind-of what this is. If it were "just" a keyboard/screen combination, it couldn't be much smaller than the foleo. You could make the keyboard fold (like the one you have) but until someone comes up with folding glass, you will be limited by the size of the glass.

I just realized that this thing may be perfect for my seventy something mother. She still does not have a computer - and does not want one, except to read e-mail, and, I suspect she would do a little surfing if she had one.

    She doesn't want a desktop.
She is not strong enough to pickup a laptop everytime she would check her e-mail.
This thing does have WiFi, so I could set her up with broadband and a wireless router.

This may be a market they have never considered:
"Lounge Chair internet for people that don't do computers."

She doesn't even have a cell phone, but with WiFi, she won't need one just to check here e-mail and look at the headlines.

I love it! The instant-on is the icing on the cake. Wouldn't you stick one of these in your suitcase when you're going on vacation to use at internet cafes
(Wi-Fi, not EVDO) and to look at your photos?

absolutely yes - was just extolling what the perfect device for me would be to go with my Treo and the same day it's announced.... mind you don't know if it has an SD slot or USB connection yet - so......

    I voted no.

I am stuck on the one device concept. I could maybe see it if a simple phone/pda came with the Foleo for the $500 - the phone could snap in to the Foleo for use as a laptop, and snap out for when I am on-the-go. But, honestly, I can't see why I would do that instead of firing up a real laptop.

The instant on feature is the only thing that is interesting about this concept. I hope it finds a niche.

No, unless they offered a "Trial" version for less than $100. My Treo 650 does everything I need it to do and I believe the bells and whistles offered by the Foleo do not warrant scrapping my 650 or paying all the extra for it!!

I'd use say a Toshiba Workbook before the Foleo any day!!

They can cram the Foleo up their Holeo! Ha Ha..funny eh?

    Default Probably not.

I would probably not buy a Foleo. I really like the size and convenience of the Treo and even though the idea of a Linux laptop sounds ineresting... suffice to say that less is more.
