of cause depends on price, however great idea as sometimes all you need is a bigger screen to work through a excel attachment and as it's been said laptops are heavy to carry for "just in case i need a bigger screen" The only question iI had was nothing was said about docs to go?

    Default Absolutely "yes".

Big screen, full keyboard, instant on, constantly in sync, wireless, bluetooth, runs Docs to Go and soon other desktop companion apps. To me, that beats the heck out of every laptop in sight. For when the tiny screen and cramped keyboard of the handheld is just not enough (which is a LOT of times for me), this is the perfect answer. I am convinced that in time, this will turn out to be another one of Jeff Hawkins' industry leading products. This is just the first step but it sure is in the right direction. Need to find out more on specs--memory, battery life, processor, third party support, multimedia capabilities etc. Go Jeff!

    I would, but only if
    1) The price was right ($250-$300)
    2) It was sized right (small enough to pack easily, large enough to be used easily)
    3) I felt that it could truly replace my laptop on business trips/appts.

just a thought...why doesn't Palm doesn't take a lead from Apple's Ipod and make it integratable with vehicles. If my company car had a docking station, keyboard, and small moniter it would be much more of a true mobile office.

Hmmm....I'm not sure at this point, so I wish the poll had a maybe choice. I need to see it in action, to see if would really fit my needs. I had posted my thoughts at TreoBits, and I had sited that my multimedia needs might not be satisfied by the Foleo. Other than that it would definitely come in handy for my personal needs, but it certainly wouldn't be sufficient for my business needs, so sticking with the company laptop in that case.

I think lowering the price point would increase the adoption of Foleo. At $500, it's no longer an accessory. At $200-$250, it becomes more an very good accessory to your Treo. Still many are wondering how and more appropriately if it fits into their mobile lifestyle. The product is the definition of a "tweener". Gives you more workspace than your Treo and less features, size associated with a laptop. Although it's priced less than a laptop, most are probably not making the decision between the two. For me, I'm guessing the Foleo is the 3rd part of most buyers mobile equations.

Oddly enough, I received a call yesterday from a friend who was asking me about the Treo. His business requires him to be connected to the web at all times. He wanted to be able to login and check shipping info, etc. Easily done on a Treo, but a Foleo/Treo combination would be a more powerful (albeit more expensive) mobile solution. He was also considering Verizon Broadband with a laptop.

I think there might be a market for Foleo, but I think it's a niche market. Defining that market will be difficult.

    Default Getting Closer...

Okay, so now if we delete the Foleo, and add WIFI to our already most excellent 650/680/etc...we'd have something.

My 13" Mac is slightly larger, but can do anything. If I could figure out how to run my Mac off my Treo (like I already do with my XP laptop (PDAnet.com), we'd be set.

Why add another thing to pack?

Palm's blog post on the Foleo is taking a beating! There was much speculation when they started the whole blog thing, that they were giving a lot of people dis-satisfied with the company a perfect place to vent . . . . I don't see much positive in the Foleo for the asking price . . . But I can only agree with someone so long before it becomes very hard reading . . . .

The Foleo is perfect for meetings and board room gatherings. Having EVERYTHING on my 700p, i'd use the Foleo to capture minutes, view/show documents and web surf as well. I'm sure the Linux OS is more than capable of performing most functions as a laptop and your seamlessly syncing your Treo data! Awesome. Price? Don't worry 'bout that. It'll come down..

I personally can't see spending $500 on an accessory that only integrates with the Treo... or "other smartphones" as they say in the presentation... when a laptop for just a few dollars more can do that and more. Dell's are consistantly down in the $600-700 range so why would I spend $500 on something that only has half the capabilities?

Also it looks like the $500 price is an "introductory offer" price point after a $100 mail in rebate... and the normal price is $600... now you're getting REALLY close to the price of a full size laptop.

I would agree with those that say if it's price were down in the $250-300 the Foleo could be more cost effective than a laptop. But not at $500/600...

    My answer would be NO!.

I have a 700WX & a 700P through Sprint. After shelling out $600 a pop for both, I can't see why I would come out of pocket for this do-hickey that has limited features. The reason we buy the smartphone family is to be able to do the things that need to be done on a desktop and laptop.. in the palm of my hand. I dont see the Foleo fitting in the PALM OF MY HAND. I watched to video demonstration and found it to be horrific. IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS TAPED ON PUBLIC ACCESS TELEVISION. The device looks like it made more for people without real jobs... Ill stick with my compact, mobile 700wx & 700p for the hard working americans.
