Well, I have a long history with Palm devices: Palm III, IIIc, Handspring Visor with the Phone module add on, a Handspring 180 just briefly before I dropped it on a concrete floor and ruined it, and a Tungsten E, before the Treo 650! I love my Treo! I honestly do. But with that said, there are certain things that I am starting to expect . . . . Mulititasking for one. WM05 will do that now! Oh, there are some issues with apps that won't close entirely, but it will multitask. WiFi seems a lot easier to do on WM devices. But it seems that there are some instability issues on WM just like there is with POS. At least hanging out over at Howard Forums has convinced me there is . . . . The 700P might breathe some life into the OS, but with what WM has coming, I believe its a matter of time. I hope Palm proves me wrong, I really do! I don't know if you saw the Balmer/Gates letter to employees. It was a 10 year roadmap for Microsoft. Basically, it talked about total integration with PC's, TV's
and Mobile devices. Balmer mentioned Mobile and Cell phone several times throughout his "vision" for the future of M$. One of my favorite places to visit is,
http://palmsolo.com . A hardcore Palm user! But he gets to testdrive a lot of mobile phones and was invited to "Mobius". A M$ sponsored think tank where they show the direction they are headed with WM. Then they get input from these industry types. This is good
PR, but more than that, its good to know what Industry "experts" think about certain aspects of what you are building. They haven't swayed him yet, but he is getting close!!!
I have my fingers crossed that "Hollywood" will indeed be what the 600 was! I huge step forward in convergence devices. Both for hardware and software . . .
