Well I voted but only because I am a 650 user with a perfectly functioning unit. The 700W is not a bad device at all in my opinion. It has some pluses over the 650! But if I were replacing my 650 today, the 700W would be a small consideration against several other WM devices. I believe the mobile phone landscape will be much different in about 2 years. There are going to be several players in the market soon. Lots of wm05 competition that palm will have to go against! The soon to be released 700P might have some advances, but it won't be groundbreaking running the current OS. And its the Palm OS that is in question long term. Microsoft is spending lots of money right now working on the next version of WM. They are inviting mobile industry types out to Redmond and revealing little bits and pieces. These types are coming back very excited about the future on WM. Meanwhile, I read on the Palm forums about Palm OS cobalt being dead, and get this, "they are going to run Linux?" PalmOne better be getting it together or the World is going to pass them by in this user's opinion . . . .

Well, Still, you and I voted the same (since there are only two votes so far) but I also agree with you on POS. There was a good article in the WSJ about Palm's market share growth increasing quite well as related to RIM. After Blackberry, the Treo is probably the next most used corporate device. It now seems to be picking up steam in the personal market too. I believe MSFT saw Palm as a device that could attack the Enterprise market the quickest in the short term and Palm also saw an opportunity to gain more acceptance as an Enterprise device. I also believe that the Moto Q is going to be a force in the market at the expense of both RIM and Palm.

Most importantly, I feel that the POS might be on its last legs. Maybe only a 12-18 month lifespan from today. I bought one anyway figuring that I would get the next "whatever" in the next two years. I think there is going to be an explosion of choices over the next few years - and yes, WM5 will be a dominate platform. I just hope those of us who want a choice, still have one! Come on PALM, stay in the game!

Well, I have a long history with Palm devices: Palm III, IIIc, Handspring Visor with the Phone module add on, a Handspring 180 just briefly before I dropped it on a concrete floor and ruined it, and a Tungsten E, before the Treo 650! I love my Treo! I honestly do. But with that said, there are certain things that I am starting to expect . . . . Mulititasking for one. WM05 will do that now! Oh, there are some issues with apps that won't close entirely, but it will multitask. WiFi seems a lot easier to do on WM devices. But it seems that there are some instability issues on WM just like there is with POS. At least hanging out over at Howard Forums has convinced me there is . . . . The 700P might breathe some life into the OS, but with what WM has coming, I believe its a matter of time. I hope Palm proves me wrong, I really do! I don't know if you saw the Balmer/Gates letter to employees. It was a 10 year roadmap for Microsoft. Basically, it talked about total integration with PC's, TV's and Mobile devices. Balmer mentioned Mobile and Cell phone several times throughout his "vision" for the future of M$. One of my favorite places to visit is, http://palmsolo.com . A hardcore Palm user! But he gets to testdrive a lot of mobile phones and was invited to "Mobius". A M$ sponsored think tank where they show the direction they are headed with WM. Then they get input from these industry types. This is good PR, but more than that, its good to know what Industry "experts" think about certain aspects of what you are building. They haven't swayed him yet, but he is getting close!!!

I have my fingers crossed that "Hollywood" will indeed be what the 600 was! I huge step forward in convergence devices. Both for hardware and software . . .
