    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, nevertheless I've been reading your posts since a while.

I became a Treo fun after a trip to Germany, but I own no one, yet  :'(

It may quite happen that I've got a chance to ask a friend of mine if he can buy one for me in the US next fall.

I was wondering what makes the US version differ from the European (Italian) one.

    1. AC adpater? (Italy uses 220V)
    2. keyboard (we have QWERTY)
    3. default language (this isn't a real issue.  I usually hate device translations.  They're so odd!)
    4. anything else?

I hope someone can answer this question.  Many thanks.

The only difference is the radio. The Europe version runs on GSM 900/1800 and the US version runs on GSM 900/1900. Other than that they are identical phones. Of course your AC power adapter for 220v....versus 110...

    That isn't very comfortable :-/

The problem is that here in Italy a Treo 270 costs not less than 850 euros.  Is there any plan that Handspring will reduce then price after Christmas?

MillerHiFi has it right. The only difference is in the frequency. BTW, some carriers in Europe still use 900 (e.g., Movistar in Spain), so the US version is OK with them, but 1800 is the newer system and is used by many more carriers and infinitely more usable if you travel around Europe.

The power adapter for charging is 110/120-200/240 autoswitching. You can use it anywhere.

    Hi Odessey,
Just to reassure you (from one newbie to another) I live in the Middle East and travel in Europe and the US. *I bought the US version. *I wanted the prevailing combo of US/Europe which it provided rather than the prevailing Europe/Far East combo available overseas (to say nothing of the considerable price advantage in the US model!). *Other than some pretty nasty things that happened during conversion to GPRS (which MillerHiFi solved for me and Handspring couldn't!), it's worked everywhere I've been yet. *Good luck.
