Thanks Chris it seems to work much better now.
Although the "new post" are now broken up into two categories, "new posts" and "The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts." I have 7 pages worth like 130 threads! How do I make them all go way so that I'm on a clean slate?
If you a create a link to "mark all posts read" that would make them go away. Is that possible?

Okay, I think I've found the fix. There was a database issue that was causing the problem. Fingers are crossed!

There is an announcement on all the forums that detail the new posts feature. Basically, you'll want to go to Quick Links > Mark All Forums As Read. This will "kick off" the new posts feature.

Just noticed a layout issue when visiting the announcment.

One thing fixed, another thing breaks.

Feedback, as always, is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping this resolves the issue.

Since this has become the defacto forum update thread, here's a quick forum update - the ever important similies are not fixed. There were a few rogue smilies amongst the group that have been deported from the forums.

and with that you'll find the new

smilie and the new mad or:mad: smilie.

Small changes, but I figured worth noting.

Will there be a mobile site/mobile forums that we would be able to visit and not chew up too much screenspace on our lowly Treos?

For now, you can access the forums and then select MOBILE ALABAMA from the template chooser at the bottom righthand of the screen. I'd advise against doing this from your desktop as it will end up as your default skin.

Antione beat me to that Question . . . I just got to work, but you can bet I will be trying that one soon. . . I have accessed and posted from my Treo using the default skin, but it is painfully slow . . . . . . .

Then again, I am on Cingular, using GPRS. . . .

Here in the sticks of Northeast TN, about the only "edge" we have ever seen is on Bubba's Huntin' knife . . . .

Everything seems to be working just fine now! Both from my Treo and from the pc.
