Forums Updated

The forums have been updated. You should see vast improvements across the board. To be honest, I don't even know all the new features.:sad: I do know the template has changed. I think the new template is a little easier to read and more forum friendly.

If you have any suggestions or feedback on the new forums, please let me know. If you experience any problems, send me a PM and I'll look into it right away.

In the past, we've never used "reputation". Basically, this allows readers to give points for good posts. On the flip side, you can also take away points. Keeps everyone honest and also let's people know who they are dealing with. If someone has 2000 points, they probably have a good idea what's going on. On the contrary, if you start following words of wisdom from someone with a negative...things might work out too well for you. Either they are very unpopular or not so swift.:rolleyes:

Enjoy the reputation points.. I've given out my first points to lulu896 and have a few other folks I need to tag with some positve rep.

Chris, I think the new forum looks great! I'm a bit confused about a few things though:

1. When you click 'New Posts', what is the time frame that is used to show posts? Within x hours?

2. A weird thing happened this morning- I checked the forum from my regular pc and I got the mobile version of the site. I cleared my cookies and signed in again and now everything is back to normal. Any ideas?

3. How do you know what a user's reputation is? I see the tab to add on each post, but I can't see where it shows up for all users.

Nice change Chris. I also noticed the change on my treo...much faster load on the mobile version.

The bottom right of the forums is a template changer. You can change from the three styles to whichever one is best.

Not sure, but I'll look into it today. What were you seeing before the update?

How do you know what a user's reputation is? I see the tab to add on each post, but I can't see where it shows up for all users.

Under the type of member (Junior, Senior), you'll see a little box. If you roll your mouse over it, it will tell you "Is on a disgtinguished road, etc". There are some funny ones. As you get reputation, you'll see more and more boxes. I'd venture to guess that if you have a negative reputation, you'll see red boxes.

To give out rep points, you just click on the green box and you'll see a note "Add to {insert user name}'s reputation". You can then comment on the post. When a member visits their Control Panel (USER CP), they will see reputation points and why they received them.

I think it will take some time, but you'll start to see differences in reputation before long. I think it's a nice way to acknowledge posts that are useful... and ahem..not so useful.
