Question .mac renewal, Gmail or something else

    Hey everyone-
I was curious if anyone has a dot mac account and has considered dumping it. I have had mine since the inception and have grown fond of my .mac email address. It's with great regret that I might let my renewal go by. I will probably take a few others down with me as I purchase mulitple accounts for friends and family. I'm serioiusly considering the "creepy" Google Gmail. 1GB of space is insane and I like the search feature. Who doesn't like Google Search. Not sure if I'm cool with the targeting of email. I don't mind seeing ads that match my interest, but it really could end up being an invasion of privacy that I'm inviting. Decisions. Decisions. I have a few weeks to go, so we'll see. What are your thoughts on .mac or your experiences with Gmail.

Well, after weeks of deliberating, I decided I could not give up my precious dot mac account. Apple has up the disk space to 250MB and while Gmail is kinda cool, I did not like the lack of POP access. I could have accessed Gmail through treoMobile using Blazer, but it's not the same as SnapperMail or my email client. I use iDisk, Homepage, dabble with publishing iCal calendars and will use the Jam Packs once I get Garage Band...so it's so much more than just an email address. I guess it's worth the $80 or so at Amazon.
