Well, if they ever ship my iPod I'll have space to burn Mr. Archos...
What software do you use and you're compression settings?

Chris, I'm looking forward to the tutorial. Please reference any freeware to convert files to play in TCPMP

I'm using Handbrake on the mac -- which is nice and free. I sort of wish they had something similar to Pocket DVD Wizard for the mac. It looks real easy and sometimes easy is good.

Just checked this out...http://www.pqdvd.com/
I'm betting there will be more and more options like this due to the video iPod. I'm curious what the price of media is for my Sony PSP -- that's a real nice size and aspect ratio for movies. I'm just afraid the media is a bit pricey.

I still say that although it's quite easy to do the all-in-one software, it certainly makes you appreciate the hard work if you try to figure out how to do it yourself, for free. That way, you can do a lot of the tweaking.
But, had the Pocket DVD Studio for Palm been cheaper, like maybe $20 or less, I'd probably get it too. I did trial it and it worked fine, but I went the freeware route and really appreciate the learning experience.
You first just need to get a DVD ripper software like DVD Decrypter (I'm sure many places still have it around even though they're gone) or other DVD rippers. And then use something like Pocket Divx Encoder or similar stuff to convert it to an avi file that can play on the Palm. It can't get any easier for a freeware method. That's the easy way method.
If you want more tweaking, then you'd need to use more software like VirtualModdub and set a lot of other stuff like frame rate, audio formats, video compression, etc.
