Movies on my Treo?

For all you fellow DVR geeks out there like myself:

Beyond TV (BTV) has an option to automatically re-encode you shows to a smaller format, called 'ShowSqueeze'.
You can leave it on manual, and tell it to only do the shows you choose, too.

The nice part is, you can choose the size, format, codec, framerate, etc and even what folder you want the show saved in.

[BTV is like TiVo for your computer, btw.]

Anyway, I think I may use that a lot once I get my Treo.
Some of the movies I record on the weekends would be nice.

Wonder if we could watch those iPod video shows that you buy on the Treo?

I don't believe so, but I'm not 100% sure. I believe they have some type of encoding that prevents from playing elsewhere - similar to iTunes songs. The format his h.264. Again, not sure if TCPMP supports this. (I'm not much help this morning -- better get my coffee brewing!)

I had no idea that you could convert/compress down movies to play them on a Treo. That is just astounding to me lol. What else can that lil bugger do!? Question though, is the movie quality really bad or really good when you compress it. Or does it really matter on how it is compressed?

I've been trying to convert Batman from for about a week now. Still having issues with the encoders I'm using. PocketDivx is a joke and Auto GK just isn't doing it. The file are like 700 mb a piece. I do have a single 1 GB card but I want to shimey it dow to somewhere around 300 mb max

Can you elaborate on what issues you're having? Pocket Divx works fine for me when I tried it. Simple for most people who don't need to do a lot of tweaking. Do you have the correct codecs installed? I encode in Xvid, which offers the best compression without much loss in quality. Have you read the various tutorials or info on how to do it?

Are you on Windows?

I've read the tutorials. Pretty sure I have all the correct codecs. I'll try it again and send along the error messages I'm getting. Another problem was that when I set the limit out for say 200 mb I still get a file that's about 500.

i use dr.divx a lot for encoding files and movies... takes all the hassle out of encoding. it's simple, straightforward and doesn't require u to be an encoding whiz to encode files.

the video can be resized and the frame rate chosen... if u want just enter the desired output filesize and everything will be automatically be taken care of, can't get more simple than that.

Ok. I am about to throw in the towel again! I have a 680. I have tcpmp and fairuse and dvd decrypter. I also have a second memory card. I have tried and tried to make this work, but somehow it always fails (even though I have a clip that plays!)

With my latest iteration, I tried to just read/convert the dvd using fairuse, but fairuse could not read it. So, I decrypted it, but it is now in two files: video_ts and audio_ts. What do I do with these????

Maybe I will try one more dvd that can be converted with fairuse (I must have one, right?)

I really(!) want to be able to do this and don't understand why I cannot make it work.

Help, please?
