moving from Verizon to Spring (w/ Treos!)

Hi there. I've done some searches on this forum, but can't really find an answer.

Is it possible to switch over phones (Treos, 600 & 650) sold and used for Verizon service to Sprint?


More details:
I currently have a Treo600 on Verizon w/o a data plan. A friend of mine is going to give me his Verizon Treo650 b/c he just got the 700p. My wife will get my 600.

So, now I want to get a data plan for my phone, and obviously, I'm looking for the best price / performance point. Chatting with a Sprint rep earlier, I found out that adding data plan for both phones (Vision Pack) would cost $22.50 total (i.e. for both phones, not for each phone). That's quite a deal.

Sprint
800 minutes: $69.99
$5 for 100 txt messages (otherwise, $.10 to send and $.10 to receive)
N&W starts at 7pm
M2M is included
Vision Pack data plan: $22.50 (unlimited data)
total: $97.49
activation fee: $3600 (on the web)
equipment costs:
if can transfer VZ phones: $0
if need to buy phones (700p + 600): $700

Verizon (not sure if I can get unlimited data on a family plan...)
individual plans:
450 minutes w/ unlimited data: $79.99
900 miuntes w/o data: $59.99
can't find txt package (otherwise $.10 to send and $.10 to receive)
total: $140
activation fee: $60
equipment costs: $0

family plan:
700 minutes: $69.99

From what I can see, Sprint has better plans and pricing, and reviews of their current coverage levels are comparable to Verizon for the areas I inhabit.

Is it possible for me to sign up with Sprint and have my two Treos activated with them?

If not, I'd probably still switch to Sprint and buy a phone, since the price differential against Verizon means that in about a year and a half, I'd be coming out ahead. ($40+ /month savings vs equipment fees) If my wife doesn't want a Treo if we have to buy it (she wants one if it's free...), then that'll happen even sooner.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I've heard of 1 or 2 people getting Sprint phones activated for Verizon but never the other way around. I'd suggest calling Sprint Tech Support and asking them (CSR's aren't likely to know the true answer).
