Default OT: Sony PSP

Being a gadget freak, I finally caved in last week and purchased the Sony PSP. While the games are nice, it was the full package that drove me to buy it. The PSP has wifi built-in and that alone is pretty cool. I easily connected to my network at home and already downloaded a software update. The process was painless. It downloads to the Memory Stick and asks if you'd like to run the update. I'm more excited about next weeks release of a PSP Web Browser. I'll be able to take my PSP anywhere in the house and browse the web at broadband speeds. Two things I'd love to see in new Treo's - wifi and the ability for smooth upgrades. The unit itself is real slick looking -- widescreen is amazing -- movies look great (although availability is minimal). I think it's only a matter of time before we'll see downloadable movies. If I'm correct (and I'm new to the PSP), I think you can already download new levels for games, etc. All in all, it's a device that I'm going to have a lot of fun with..

iPod, iPod Shuffle, Treo 650 and now a PSP -- so many gadgets, so little time.

The PSP is nice ...I have had it for about 4 or so months now.....

Browsing the web is nice with it but would be real nice if I had a keyboard....

I wasn't aware of a sony browser...I just use a back door route through the wipeout pure game....

Where did you see the browser for it......

If you wanna talk about gadgets I'm your man.....

I bought 5 smartphones alone in the last 8 months....I buy practically everything that comes out especially the stuff no one sees alot...

You have any archos gear.......?

It was released in Japan a few weeks ago. There was supposed to be a firmware update on August 12th, but it's delayed.

Wipeout Pure is a great game. I have just that and HotShots Golf. The screen is amazing on this thing. I cannot wait until Burnout Legends. I have Burnout for xBox and it's just a great game.

No Archos stuff - but I do own a small family of iPods.

Have you updated via Wifi yet? Why can't the next Treo have something like -- how easy would that be to upgrade your firmware. With the PSP, it just copies to my Memory Stick and then executes the upgrade.

I'm looking forward to the Web Browser -- how did you backdoor Wipeout Pure to access the web?

While we're on the subject of gadgets, I just an HD Tivo. For the past year or so, we've had two boxes - one for Tivo and one for HD. This box brings it all together - Directv is finally offering this at a realistic price.

Problem is they are moving to MPEG4 and HDTivo doesn't support that -- or vice versa. It will be interesting to see what happens with everyone who bought HD Tivos. I'm guessing they'll continue to provide feeds that work and then offer to upgrade everyone. I'm no so certain their box will do what Tivo does though - sure it'll record shows -- but it won't be a Tivo.

check out this page.....

http://omlette.net/psp/roto/

Thats how i got to browse with wipeout.....I have hotshots tiger woods ridge racer NFL street and i just got code of arms....

I am looking forward to Gran Turismo. Burnout wasn't all that great at first but the sequels have really stepped it up......
You know Ipod is the only thing I refuse to buy....a bit too mainstream for me.....I have about 6 mp3 players but no ipod.....LOL!

You going to get Xbox 360 or PS3...I already put money down on both......graphics are amazing.....some you have to look twice and make sure its not a cinematic shot of the real thing......Will be nice having wifi built in on the two.....
I guess Xbox is losing 102 dollars a unit and on units alone stand to lose hundreds of millions of dollars...but will make it up on game contracts and accessories.....
They are getting "kickbacks" on games and accessories......If the game makers don't sign a contract then the game doesn't get made for xbox....same goes with the accessories.....PS3 is doing that with games but are not sure about the accessory makers......those companies are smaller and cannot afford to lose so much on each unit sold. The only other choice is to jack up prices.....

I have a DVR and cable...never really got into a tivo mood! would have had to upgrade and hack the hell out of it.....thats my style...

I have had 4 xboxes each hacked and modded....everytime someone sees what I had done they want it and pay way too much for it....I can't say no. After I sold my last one I said forget it and haven't bought another yet....Plus I already beat halo2 so I was pretty much done with it.....I am a ps2 guy.....even though its the worst performing of all three companies consoles.....

I was looking at Direct but have too good a deal with what I got now.....I have 6mb. broadband speed through my cable company.....I know ican't even utilize it all but better to have too much than not enough.

I'm surprised you haven't jumped on the Tivo bandwagon. I think there are books about how to hack it -- upgrade the hard drive -etc.

I have one lone modded xBox and it's great. I like the games better than with PS2. My PS 2 has been collecting dust. At first, I thought Sony was going to win the next gen cosole war -- but apparently most of what we've seen is CGI graphics and not actual gameplay. I like the look of the 360 and plan on getting it. Any benefit to pre-ordering it? Other than the ability to actually buy one when they come out.

We just got FIOS in our neighborhood, but I'm tied to cable for my phone service. I still might make the jump to FIOS and change my phone number yet again. I hear the speeds are outrageous.

I've heard the $299 price point being talked about...but is that a sure thing. I think it makes sense for them to get a piece of the accessories. If they make the 360 more affordable, they'll have more market saturation -- which means the accessory companies will sell more accessories. Seems to me that everybody wins - Microsoft, Accessory companies and the consumer.

The benefit of pre-order is just having one with your name on it day one.......and thats it......I bet you when they come out they start bundling and may be a better bet to wait......

I heard 399 at first and then on cnet or engadget...not sure where it was they had a 299.00 price point.

I hear you about the saturating the market place but there was a report about the effects its going to have on the companies like mad catz. I guess there are arguements for both sides....... most likely they will raise the prices of the accessories....the game prices are already reported to be around 60 to 65 dollars.
So they have already decided to raise them to compensate for the cut that Microsoft is getting.....

I don't know about you...but I can't wait. I just picked up a new HD set from Costco and my regular xBox looks awesome using component cables. I saw a few trailers at Happy Puppy and the Madden looks pretty wild. It wasn't actual gameplay -- still, just very cool stuff.

I have 106" screen and a BenQ DLP projector which has amazing picture. Couple that with my Onkyo Surround sound system and I am in heaven when i am playing my video games.....

I just bought madden 06 on saturday and played with a couple buddies until sunday night. Non stop! It was about 31 hours of play.......I also got God of War....seems like a good game but haven't had time to get into it that much...

What types of games do you play the most on your xbox?
