Default Palm OS vs. Windows Mobile?

I am looking at upgrading my phone (like all of us) and am wondering what the +/-'s are to Palm OS and Windows Mobile. I know there are lots of subjective opinions, which I'd love to hear, as well as on the technical side.
I have a windows based computer, but sometime in the next year I'll get a mac.
    What say you... kind people?

Also, is there a big difference in available aftermarket software?

Here are some observations of both platforms that might help with your decision:

    Windows Mobile based Treo
    • Requires a Windows PC, mac running Windows or third party software (Missing Sync for Windows Mobile) in order to sync
    • If you're familiar with Windows, it's easy to get used to Windows Mobile as it's very similar.
    • Large software library and growing. Palm is not the only PocketPC phone, so it's very attractive to developers (large market).
    • Today screen - by far my favorite part of the Windows Mobile powered Treos. It's just a very nicely integrated screen that allows to access apps, use photo speed dial, see todays events and more.
    • 700wx improves upon memory of 700w
    • 240x240 screen

    Palm OS
    • Old, but more refined OS.
    • Large library of applications
    • Easier to access functions (ex. Turn on Speakerphone)
    • Mac friendly out of the box. Does not require third party software
    • 320x320 high resolution screen great for movies

For more insight, you could read my Treo 700w review. This compares and contrasts the Treo 700w with the Palm based Treo 650.

    Thanks Chris,
    that was helpful to read...

Why is it that the higher resolution screen is not part of the 750? It would seem logical to me to upgrade all the newer devices they come out with to the 320 x 320 or greater.

From what I understand, it's a limitation of the OS.

I think Chris did a great job of pointing out differences. I might add that I think both are very capable devices! I think it really comes down to personal preference. A good friend just picked up a 700w. We compare them almost daily over lunch! Some days I envy him, and some days, he envies me . . .

I would equate it to the PC/Mac thing. Both are very good at doing lots of things. In some areas the Mac outshines the PC and vice/versa.
