Need Help Pause during dialing does not to work even from Favorites

My wife and I both own 680's and both phones seem to have the same problem. When inserting the suggested comma or letter 'p' in the additional digits screen for a favorite the phone does not pause when dialing.

Is there a trick to this or is there a maximum number of digits it will scan for a pause? I contacted palm tech support and they just repeated how it should work. When I told them that it did not work they sent me here.

    Hi and welcome to ET:

Commas always worked for me. At what point are you inserting the comma? At the end, for example to pause before entering a mailbox on a voicemail or something similar?

Are you entering the first comma directly after the dialed number or putting a space and then the comma?

    Default Bug found in Palm

After a frustrating 3 days of attempting to get help from Palm I have figured out the problem. Pauses are ignored in strings that contain two # characters. My extra digits string had two pound signs and when I deleted one of them it worked like it was supposed to.

I have let Palm tech support know and they are supposed to have a level 2 rep call me back next week.

Glad you figured it out and took the time to post the resolution for all to see.

These handheld devices are quirky little beasts aren't they?
