Default play an mp3 on my bluetooth earpiece?

I frequently listen to an entire 3 hour radio show stored as an mp3 file while driving. I used an ordinary wired earpiece, plugged into the jack in the bottom of my TREO 650. This was sometimes a problem; I make a few stops during my drive and I tangled the cord unless I took the time to thread it under the seatbelt properly.

My daughter bought me a bluetooth headset for my birthday. I managed to set it up and can receive phone calls with no problem.

But I can't get the TREO's realplayer application to play in my new headset. I already checked through the 'Bluespoon' and TREO's manuals, but no joy.

I presume it is possible to make this happen; I told the Bluespoon sales person what I wanted to do & he told me I could. He seemed knowledgable enough.

Any advice? Has anyone done this? Is it possible, or was the salesperson blowing smoke?

Up until last month it wasn't possible! There is a company that has developed a "Bluetooth" stereo add on for the Treo. Best I remember, it is $20.00 and is simply an install, like any other app you would install to the Treo. You can learn more from this thread:

You might consider a bluetooth stereo headset also . . .

Default softik audio gateway

Thank you StillRockin for your response. Any suggestions about where I can find the softik audio gateway?

I tried Google but this didn't work as well as Google usually does for me.
  1. I was referred back to this forum
  2. There were ads for Gateway computers (no thanks)
  3. Lotsa stuff in what looked like cyrilic. I don't read cyrilic.

Default softick not softik

Google likes it when we spell correctly. I eventually found the SOFTICK site. Downloaded the trial version...it won't work with my headset. I guess it doesn't support the A2DP protocol. At least it was free.

I can return the headset & buy a stereo version.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Try the softicks software audiogateway and plantronics 590a - you'll love it. I use it almost everyday. It even works on my treo700p - one thing that you would like to keep in mind is that natively treo's don't suppor this profile. So if you get a couple of locks/freeze you understand that you are pushing our babies past their limits. What i've experienced when listening to movies with the bluetooth headset though is that it is nothing more than streaming your audio - not to mention if you have volumecare as well you love it.

Default Plantronic

I saw a device at Staples that looks like the 2 ear bud earphones, it's bluetooth reciever clips on your shirt. I didn't like it but it might be an option to consider. The only other device I have found is avalible on chinese websites, but I don't speek or read chinese.
