Syncing without loosing

OK I have my wifes Treo. She syncs automatically with her work email. She deleted at work all of her contacts from their server. The next automatic Sync...All of her contacts from her phone were deleted. How do we stop this tragedy from happening again?

Sorry you had to be introduced under these circumstances. I believe we would have to know more about her setup to be able to answer this. If she is syncing automatically I would assume it is wirelessly and probably through an Exchange server, but you need to confirm.

When you say she deleted her contacts from their server, was this at her desktop and through Outlook? Did she do that deletion purposely or was it an error on her part?

If she is set up for auto sync through the server and she makes a change like that on her desktop, the system will probably assume the changes should be made to the remote device.

Again, this will depend on how the device and the sync was set up. Was it set up by her IT department?

Can you clarify how the systems were set up and why the deletion occurred?

Well, I am not a Guru, so I have to answer these questions very simply..sorry. I set up her Tre to get her work emails on her phone. The program at her work..desktop Is Outlook. She deleted them from her desk top, because she didnt like the idea of her managment having all of her contacts. I was suprised that syncing her email would also up load her calling contacts.

How do we prevent future delemas. This also happend in the past when I went to Hot sync her Phone to our home computer, it deleted all of her call contacts as well

Sorry for the delayed response....We will need more basic info:
1) What Treo model?
2) What is the desktop OS version, XP, Vista, etc?
3) What version of Outlook?
4) Is the sync being done with a cable to her PC or is is wireless?
5) Were the contacts on the Treo and they synced onto her work PC? That is why she deleted them?
6) Does she have work contacts in the office desktop that she doesn't want on the Treo?
7) Is the Treo hers personally or was it provided by her office?
