the costs to use treo or others

I like probably everyone else was initially excited by the promise of cleaner, quicker more usable data on my cell. I looked forward to carrying my office with me. But oh boy! what outrageous costs were associated with doing so. My cell carrier wanted an additional $49.00 per month on my cell bill and on top ot that my business affiliation wanted another $20.00. I may as well stay with my conventional cell and laptop.

It all depends on your provider. Verizon's data package costs $44.95 for unlimited data. If you shop around, Sprint offers unlimited data for $15.

Not sure about the $20 business affiliation charge you are referring to...

Unless your carrier requires that you have their data plan to use a Treo (does any carrier do this?) why not just use the Treo as a PDA and cell phone without the net access?

My 650 arrives today (a prisoner of FedEx yet again) and I didn't setup a data plan for it yet. I intend to add the MEdia Net unlimited plan (Cingular) but originally just wanted to have the cell and PDA all-in-one to cut back on what I carry. You lose no functionality other than the net access.

If you want internet access and you can change your carrier (savings might be worth an early cancellation fee) then shop around. There are some deals out there on both Treos and data plans. Good luck!
