    Default Treo confusion

I recently received a Treo 600. I like it but its old and I can't do anything with it. Is it possible to get it even close to current so I can play music or change the screen to display pictures. I also wanted to know what's do the letters mean after the model numbers.

The screen can also be modified and there are bunches of 3rd party launchers that work on it - again though the resolution is not the best.
