Try the 650 or upgrade to 700?
I've decided to get a Treo. I've never used one and so I'm trying to decide if I should get a 650 or spend a couple extra hundred on a 700.
I'll be using my Treo mainly for e-mail, surfing the web, and playing games while i'm on the train home everyday from work.

The Treo 700p will give you EVDO, but is only available through Verizon. EVDO will provide faster access to the web and email. Which carrier are you on? Are you under contract?

You'll also want to check to see that EVDO is available in your area. No sense getting and EVDO capable phone if Verizon doesn't offer it in your area. Not sure where 415 is?:laugh3:

Thank you for the quick response.
I'm located in San Francisco, CA. I'm not under contract yet, and I'm leaning toward Verizon, although Sprint looks good too, with the cheaper data plans.

I guess the real question i'm getting at is, will it be worth it for me to spend an extra $150 to get the 700 or will I be fine with the 650...i've been reading different threads regarding the differences between the two. I won't use the camera feature much so i don't think the megapixel vs vga camera will affect me much. if i'm not mistaken, the 650 has an SD card slot right? So I can boost up the storage space that way. the slower internet speed on the 650, i think i can deal with as most of the time i'll just be checking sport stats. is there anything else that the 700 has an advantage over the 650 on?

I think for $150 it's worth it if you've got EVDO in your area. You also get PocketTunes installed and they've made a few improvements to the user interface. I also like the keyboard and main buttons on the 700p. I did a pretty extensive Treo 700p review that might provide you with more insight.

I have the 650, and like it. But, I wish like hell that Sprint would let me upgrade to the 700p at the same reduced cost that "new" Treo users get. I'd like to have the extra onboard storage space, better camera and faster internet. I don't like how Sprint makes existing Treo owners (loyal customers) pay double the rate that new users pay! lol...I hate it.
But, I'll never buy a regular phone again.

TBolt, I am with you 100%. If you read those Sunday Paper offers real close, those deals only apply to NEW customers. Existing Customers don't qualify! Sprint is not the only one that practices this! This really burns me up, if you can't tell . . . . :gasp:
I am hoping that one day soon, one of these big guys on the block will figure out, that good customers who pay their bills on time, are the ones they need to go after and keep happy . . . All of them really need to improve on the CS experience! However, if shopping on pricepoint alone, it looks to me like Sprint might be the cheaper experience long term . . .
At least, where I am sitting, that Sprint grass is looking greener . . .

O yea...SprintPCS is definitely easier on the pocket book than Verizon. I've been using Sprint for many years, now--don't plan to leave 'em just yet.
Ya know, stillrockin, I've been planning to set aside some time when I'm not so busy to write a letter and send it off to SprintPCS Corporate. I'm going to argue the exact point that you made--Sprint should definitely be catering to existing clients that are in good standing.
