There are featues of both phones (650/700) that require data services. Email and Web surfing are the two main examples. But other features could in theory require data. For example, updatting your calendar. If WiFi is really important to you, the 700 might be the better choice, only because WiFi can be obtained with a card, and the 650 requires a Sled. And if its really important, many of the WM05 phones imported from Europe have a WiFi radio built in to the unit itself. No add ons! Leaves the slot open for memory! Once upon a time I really thought I needed WiFi but since have realized its not that important to me. Then again, if I didn't have an unlimited data plan, I am certain I would long for it! Buying a WiFi adaptor doesn't mean that you have to pay a MONTHLY fee, but not all WiFi networks you encounter are free either . . . But pondering your post, I have concluded that I don't think I would even want my Treo without a data plan. WiFi? I could care less about it, but I rely heavily on my Treo's ability to access the web when I ask it to, or when I set it up to do it on some sort of regular basis . . . .
Anyway, my 2 cents . . . . Hope this helps . . .

Also, I am aware that there are wifi adapters out there such as the wifi sled for the 650 or the socket or palm wifi card for the 700w. If I were to purchase a wifi adapter for my treo, am I still obligated to pay for the monthly data plans? or can that be avoided? also, is the 700w more prefered by you guys or is the 650 good enough? |
