Don't know why this wasn't answered... I don't have the app yet, but I'm 99% sure you have to root your Pre to install it.

no rooting on the donate version, it uses its own quick install method

the only reason i cant testify for my self is that i have not installed it yet, im waiting till after the next big update but who knows i might give in sooner

The creator of WebOS Quick Install hit up the two remaining developers that still used command line install.
My Tether 1.5 is now compatible and does not need "rooting".

and for the above i can attest to, i installed it yesterday afternoon through webos quick install and it works great, try the wi-fi and usb, unfortunately i was a bit miss carrying and snap my bt usb on my laptop and i wasnt able to see if i could get it to work on bt. other then that this option works great,the only down is that on the 1.5 i did not see a way to change the network name nor create some type of wep protection but since i dont use it that often im sure i will be fine as long as i turn it off when im not using it.

Do I have to worry about Sprint charging me extra for tethering or does this have a way around that?
