New to Pre - Third Party Apps?
Hi everyone!!
On Tuesday me and my husband are getting Palm Pre's. We are seasoned Crackberry addicts but we needed/wanted a change. Soooooo, I am used to being able to put third party apps on my phones, so I was curious as to how that works with the Pre. I've heard that the apps for the phone are few and far between.
Is there any sites that show free or relatively cheap third party applications such as games, news, ect????
One more questions - Can you use Viigo on the Pre???? :dft004:cry

oh my (:
while the official catalog is quite empty do a search for "webos quick install" and become familiar with it.
It will dl and install programs from a number of sources as well as tweaks which "fix" some of the Palm short comings.

Is the webos DL like installing a new OS on a cellphone? Same concept? Just fixes upgrades and adds new things?

it's a java program for the desktop.
When the pre is connected to the pc, and placed in developer mode, webos quick install can install and make changes.

as well as installing themes.

WebOS Quick Install is not a "new" or "replacement" OS for your Pre. It is a program that you run on your desktop that can install Homebrew applications (apps not available in the official App catalog on your Pre) from third-party developers and has options to implement/provide tweaks and "fixes" for your Pre.

Thanks very much for clearing that up.
Gotta learn a whole new language for the Pre now, lol.

Lizzy001 as much as I like everythingpre and do not want to burn it, Go to Precentral.net click on the link for applications and there will be another link and it will explain to you step by step how to install and use the Quickinstall as well as what to use so you don't have to use quickinstall everytime to install apps. Me myself I use Preware app. alot of people use the File Coaster but the Preware has Themes you decide. Hope this helps.
