Default Theme your Pre NOW (no rooting required!!)

Some of the guys that have been creating themes for the pre have a website that hosts the thimes in .ipk's that you can load with Quick Install. Check out the themes here, prethemer.com. It doesn't change the dialer, for that you would still need to download the full zip to get the images and install with the tweeks, but it changes the boot screen, wall paper, Bookmarks screen and icons. They also have the standard Palm one to restore everything right before the update, which god knows when will come...:dft005:frazzled

*sigh.. I just did mine the hard way.
Dialer, photo, music, video and browser backgrounds all Avanti Pecan leather.
Plus all the bottom and top fade images and the seperators.

    How deep are the themes?

you've done some nice work with your themes, unfortunately it doesn't run too deep. The themes only change a few things and does not go deep enough. They say the will have an app out by the end of the week to theme but I don't know how deep that one will go as well. This only changed the screens that I have shown minus the dialer. I had to use the tweak function on QI. It didn't theme the music player or photos which have some nice backgrounds in his complete lost theme. If the app they put out doesn't do it, I'm going to have to the it the hard way

Thanks! I'm hoping their app will fully theme it. Putty scares the hell out of me. I can get around windows but never messed with linux. I know everybody says it's easy, but with webos dr i'm not that worried.

I use WebOS Quick Install. It has a "Send" function.
Whoever told you Linux is easy is lying out of their.. Well you know.
Just remember Linux is case sensitive. Background is different than background.

Here's the photo location, the background is of course called background.png:
    /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.photos/images
    Name: photos_2009-14-09_200546.jpg
Views: 1007
Size: 89.9 KB
notice the bottom fade, that's originally blue and darker. I greyscaled and added 30% transparency.

Music is background.png and is at:
    /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.musicplayer/images
    Name: musicplayer_2009-14-09_200514.jpg
Views: 986
Size: 82.2 KB

    For video send background.png to:
    /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.videoplayer.launcher/images
    Name: launcher_2009-14-09_200712.jpg
Views: 980
Size: 35.1 KB

Browser background is called background-bookmarks-grid.png and goes in:
    /usr/palm/applications/com.palm.app.browser/images
    Name: browser_2009-14-09_200417.jpg
Views: 946
Size: 37.3 KB

Palm has laid out the program folders in a very windows way which make me happy.

I tried playing with the send feature earlier and it didn't change. Do you have to rename the png that you are sendingand do you need to receive it from the phone before sending? I could have sworn I put it in the right place but didn't change the name of the png and it didn't change

You have to reboot. UNLESS you haven't opened the application since booting.
I leave novaterm open and send a pkill LunaSysMgr to see the changes.

You used the filenames as in the last post? Most are simply background.png, remember case sensitive, but some are different like the phone dialer and browser.
videoplayer is a misnomer as that only shows the brief moment between you click the video and it actually begins playing.

You don't have to receive it first but I normally do to have a backup and check the size.

Booyakasha!!!!!!!!!!!!:dft010:smile Got it to work. I was first loading them to /images/ instead of straight /images. Then I was not naming the correctly as background.png, once I did it it took. Now off to the the rest of the phone. Pictures tomorrow. Thanks again!:dft012:wink
