all of a sudden...won't hotsync
I had been trying trial versions of some games and my treo 700p started looping hot sync. It would do nothing else. I performed all different resets. cold ones, warm ones, a combination of them. I managed to back it up during that time (the treo gods were smiling on me) Now no hot sync. Sooooo frustrating.
I have not participated in a forum before so I may make some errors.

Checking the ports and connection type may help out, which is taken care of in the hot sync manager.

Thanks so much benjie, I did however check ports and connections. The hot sync button just sits there like a dumb bunny. Actually I may be the dumb bunny. I am honored that a 5 star Guru answered me anyway, wow.

Then have you checked the device hot sync menu to insure the correct connection is selected (which with a cable is "Cradle/Cable."
If the hot sync manager is loaded, the port and connection type is set properly in the hot sync manager, the cable connection on the device and the desktop/laptop is solid and not dirty, and the hot sync menu on the device shows the proper setting, then try another USB port on the desktop.
Another solution that I use extensively is Bluetooth.

benjie,
I have checked the above items in addition to using another USB cable(I had two for this phone) . When you said dirty I assume you meant dust and grit. I don't have a Bluetooth for my phone. I am certain I would loose it riding and fooling with the horses but it may be worth a try. Now when I had this loop going on I deleted anything that I thought might be causing it. Could I have deleted something that would interrupt the hot sync function?

Hi:
You say you have tried all kinds of resets. If you have a a good backup 'cause the Treo gods smiled on you, have you tried a hard reset, which deletes everything? Then try a sync. Here is a list of all the various resets and procedures.
If that doesn't work you might think about uninstalling your Palm Desktop and sync software, reboot your PC and try reinstalling the software. You should also rename your backup folder BEFORE deleting everything so all your info is still available for reinstallation.
