| Hello from Belgium ! Hello everybody !
I'm MarieC, I live in Belgium.
I'm new to this forum and soon-to-be proud owner of a Treo 680. It will be my first Treo, my first smartphone... but not my first Palm.
I've been a Palm user for more than 5 years (Palm m505, Sony Clie NX70V, Palm Tungsten T3). I've always had something against smartphones or PDAphones in general, preferring separate devices.... that was until the Treo 680 showed up ! It seems to have everything to make me change my mind. And so I decided to take the leap. So last Wednesday I ordered my Treo from the Palm Store... and I'm really excited about this new chapter of my Palm life...!
IRL I'm a computer engineer and work as an IT consultant / project manager for a large corporation in Belgium. In my spare time I'm active on PalmAttitude.org, a french-speaking Palm-related website. I'm a mod and member of the board.... so, like you see, Palm PDAs are definitely part of my life ! |

| Welcome, Marie, to ET.com. Hopefully in your busy life you can find a few minutes to be somewhat active on this board, too. Congrats on your new 680!

| Thanks kdallen ! My life isn't as busy as it seems. I will certainly show up regularly on the forum (at least I hope so!). My Treo is scheduled to arrive on Monday, so I'll be certainly around.
And congrats on this great site. ;-) |

| Hopefully the time between now and Monday flies by for you. I spent a few days in and around Bastogne a few years ago and what I saw of Belgium was beautiful, by the way.

| Hello all and merci beaucoup for the welcomes !
I was very busy lately, that's why I didn't show up more often.
I received my Treo as scheduled ten days ago and have been playing around with it for most of my evenings ! What can I say... boy, I'm stunned ! this machine is so really great. I love its beautiful screen, the excellent sound quality on the phone, the feeling, the touch... everything. It's like rediscovering the Palm world again, but from another perspective. It's my first smartphone, so it's really something new for me.
For the last week I've been installing on and on the software I need. I'm keeping my trusty ol' T3 (mainly for GPS navigation, I have TomTom 5 on it and for me it's working fine, and besides, it has the larger screen, and I have all the cables, car charger... and so on), so there's no hurry in transferring all my software to the Treo.
The only thing I'm not very happy about is battery lifetime, but this seems to be a common problem. But it has been getting better after the first few charging cycles. Now I've installed BatteryGraph to keep an eye on battery values, but I'm trying to definitely not get paranoid about it.
The other problem I'm having - and this is worse - is that I have a dead pixel on the screen... I've contacted Palm support and I'm sending back the Treo next week, right after Christmas, and get a new unit... that's a bummer... having to go back to my T3 and my "old" cellphone again...
@Chris : I got the grey one, it's the only one available in Europe...
@kabeyun : I hope not... I think the RTBF did a great job ! ;) |
