    Default hoysync error 16397

I am trying to hotsync a replacment 650.
I get everything except the CONTACTS and CALENDAR, the TWO apps that I use and need to most.
I cannot find a fix for the error code listed in the hotsync log 16397:

    Contacts synchronization failed
    ?Contacts? failed (error = #16397)
    Calendar synchronization failed
    ?Calendar? failed (error = #16397)
    Address Book did nothing

    HELP.... I'm desperate!

fix for Palm Hot Sync/Verizon Wireless Sync conflict error #16397
Following is a possible fix for a syncing problem with the new Verizon version of the Treo 650.

The problem occured in my phone AFTER the initial installation of Palm Desktop software and the first sync to the Treo 650. After several syncs, the syncs to "Tasks" and "Calendar," and in my case to the 3rd party Meeting Maker all stopped, and the log specified error #16397.

The fifth call to Palm led to a solution, at least for me. Another user had reported a similar problem and either Palm or Verizon had diagnosed an issue with Wireless Sync, which I have enabled to obtain email. Either VErizon or the user had suggested disabling Wireless Sync.

I couldn't find a way to disable Verizon's program Wireless Sync. But in checking the top menus on the program, going to "Setup," then to "Connection Settings," then to "Advanced" (in the bottom right part of the screen, one will see a check-box in the "Advanced Settings" scren for "Enable oother sync apps." This says "Enabling this may duplicate data." CHECK this box. I did, then clicked "OK" and got out of the Wireless Sync program, then did a HotSync. Worked perfectly. Has worked perfectly ever since.

Thank you so much! This worked for me perfectly. I had to register just to let you know you are a lifesaver.

    worked for me

final solution, after I wasted time on following:

    - uninstall missing sync
    - installed hotsync (after resolving conflicts with transport manager)
    - searched on error number, tried ran dbScan to correct errors in databases
    - searched further, found this, solved problem

Default Someone should tell Palm Support this fix!

Thanks Will! Every time I called Palm Support, their solution was to do a Hard Reset or change the User Name on the Treo. Your solution worked perfectly!

    Smile It's a miracle!!

So simple, no hard reset, no phone tree and fiddling around with Palm support or Verizon support on the phone.

This also worked for me and my Treo 700p.

My calendar and contacts are perfect now!

    Blessings to you!!

Wanted to say that this works for the Palm Centro, too. Just fyi.

I'm soo grateful for this thread 'cause I was going to simply die if I started having issues with my phone three days after purchasing. Phwew! :laugh3:

I am having almost the same problem, but the solution isn't working for me.

    tasks
    contacts
    calendar
    -------------------------
    all have error #16397

On my Treo 650 (verizon) I went through the following path:
Wireless Sync / Settings / Sync Settings / To Do List Settings / Options

There were no "advanced" options. Only when I tapped the "Settings" button in the lower right hand corner it gave me an "Options" window with the option to "Share database with another conduit (slower)"

I selected that option and tried to re-sync, but no luck. Same error.

    To add to the confusion:

    1. In "Wireless Sync Settings" on my Treo the to-do list is listed as "To Do List."

    2. In the main view on my Treo the to-do list is called "Tasks."

    3. In the desktop "Conduit Settings" there are conduits listed for both "Tasks" and "To Do List."

I've tried various configurations of "synchronize" and "do nothing" as well as various selections in the "Wireless Sync" of on/off and "sync other conduits." Still, no luck.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    thanks
