In theory the Treo 700p is great--a phone, planner and mini-computer so the laptop can spend more time at home. However, it has proved to be a nightmare to get the functions up and running. After 8 hours and many conversations with Apple and Verizon, the upshot was Apple's saying that iSync didn't yet include the Treo 700p in its software/device list. And that it would be weeks before that would happen. I found it impossible to find a phone number for Palm, no surprise--if I'd released the 700p prematurely, I'd keep my phone number a secret, too. Ultimately, I managed to get the wireless sync up and running so that my email is delivered automatically to the Treo, and I can access the net anytime. I got it to sync with iCal once and then lost it. Don't ask me how I got even the modest success, my brain was so fried by the time it was syncing wirelessly that I can't remember. Have not been able to duplicate the sync with iCal. I'll give it a few days and then try again--unless anyone out there has had success.
The Verizon people were not up to speed on the Mac OS 10.4.6. Apple didn't have an answer for the sync problem either. So I fault Verizon for releasing the gadget prematurely. That's not going to win them any friends.
