Hey folks,
I know its a bit late, but I just got the TREO 650 and i LOVE it. I've been up until 3 am past couple nights, prcrastinating from doing my schoolwork by finding out new things to do with my treo. (And for the record I managed to get Sprint down to about $35 by threatening to leave, etc....so its definitely worth a LOT more than a paid for it.)
Couple of questions though:
1) The Treo is not a very comfortable handset to talk into for any extended period of time. (Plus, I've accidentally hung up on a few people by pressing the "hang up on all" button with my cheek!) I've spent SO much time the last few days trying to figure out what bluetooth headset will actually be compatible. I ultimately ended up buying, and then RETURNING a Jabra version, and from all the reviews i've read, the only one that has a high probablility of working well (the Eriksson HBH 660) is too expensive for a lowly graduate student budget. So I am thinking that I will get a wired headset, and wondered if anyone had any good (and not too expensive) suggestions. Probably pretty low-tech for this forum, but it never hurts to ask.
2) I do use versamail (although I have not set it up a schedule for it to automatically download), and I also use Toccer (a free IM provider), but I have noticed that I miss calls at times (routed directly to voicemail)--and I have noticed that when this happens the two little green arrows are also usually lit, indicating that I am downloading information (although I have noticed) this also at times when I am logged off of IM. Ive tried the various things that I've found elsewhere on the site for people who seemed to have similar issues, but hasn't worked for me thus far. Anyother suggestions or input?
3) lastly, is there a way to disable the touchpad when you are on a call? I can always use the navigational keys to end a call, etc., and i'd rather do that then continue to hold the handset super far from my face so that I dont accidentally end the call (which REALY sucks when you've already been on hold for 5 minutes....trust me).
Thank so much!! I love all the information here...i've already learned how to use the bluetooth functions on my computer that I've had (and never used) for 2 years!
ps...if anyone wants to make thier own ringers, here is a link to a useful site:
