My question is should i purchase it now or i can wait till january. is another version due out soon that is windows based or should i just purchase now. i tried the search function and im not getting what im looking for. if anyone can tell me or point me in the right direction id really appreciate it. this is a pretty cool forum, i had no idea treo forums existed. thanks for your help

When timing a purchase such as this and you wish to stay with your current carrier consider when it is most advantageous to you. For example: When a contract is due for renewal you are able to take full advantage of both the upgrade credits and any rebate(s) currently being offered. If your contract has already expired, you may always continue as is under the same terms of you previous contract until you are more able to afford the desired device. This being said, why are you wanting to wait until January? A bit more information is required from you to give you the best advice on this.
There will always another version of whatever product we purchase on the horizon be it dish soap or an electronic device such as the Treo. Therefore, if one always waited for the latest/greatest thing to be introduced, then one would obviously never purchase anything.
As the holiday season is rapidly approaching ALL companies are beginning to "gear up" and introduce their new products or better versions of existing products to capture the market. Most "new and improved" items are now being introduced to enable them to entrench just prior to that time of the year when we typically do the most spending.
The ET Forum is a great resource for us and typically generates more questions along with answers those questions that we didn't even know we had in the first place. I myself stumbled upon it by accident not knowing that a site such as this was available until AFTER purchasing my first Treo and was searching for better prices on accessories and software. Now I can't get enough of it as each and every time I log in someone is asking about or mentioning something that prompts me to do even more research. I am able to do so much more with my Treo than ever would have been possible had it not been for those here at ET.
Good luck on this and remember that no question is a dumb question. You were a smart "noobie" to perform a search PRIOR to posting your question.:laugh3:

thanks for the reply. the reason for me wanting to get it before january is because of the time when i will need the some of the features of a pda. i need to have a pda come july but want to get comfortable with it before hand. also i will be taking an exam late may and dont want to have a brand new toy taking me away from my studies, which i know will happen all to easily. also from next week until jan is kind of low key at school and i will have the time you learn and play with my first pda. ive just heard that windows 6 will be on the next treo, from the verizon guy, and since i have this 3-4 month window im just trying to see if its realistic that a new treo will be out by then. thanks again for the help guys.

Hi:
Everything I have seen indicates Verizon will release the 755p (Palm) sometime around November:

Keep in mind that release projections always seem to be written with erasable ink. I did not see any projections about a new Windows version from Verizon, but that could also change. However, if they made an announcement today, I don't think they could make your target dates.
One other thing to keep in mind with these technological marvels....There is always going to be a newer, better, faster, prettier, etc. version "just around the corner". Linux will also be a part of the future mix.
Good luck on your hunt and I hope we see you around these forums.
