Palm OS vs. Windows...
Hello all,
I am ready to make the jump to a Treo. Did my research on the BB and with some posts on various forums, especially here, I maintained my decision to stick with the Treo.
NOW...
My Sprint salesman says he prefers the Palm OS as opposed to the Windows OS. I know nothing about either, but I am buying the Treo for it's full smartphone capabilities. I need everything it offers, and in my salesperson's opinion the Windows system crashes, apparently you have to reboot the phone to turn any application(s) off, and so on.
I want the Treo to use when I'm not carrying my laptop with me (such as on the motorcycle) and I need the right model to ensure I have smooth functionality all the time.
As for the Centro, am I correct in assuming it is a Blackberry-ish version of the Treo to appeal to BB-prone buyers? It looks nice, but seems to boast less functionality than the Treo. I ask because I'm ready to buy and don't have a ton of time to take in order to evaluate everything on my own. Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope...
Any and all advice will be GREATLY appreciated. I love this site, and will be here daily to learn everything I can.
Cheers,
Wordman

You say you've done some research already, including here at ET.com. Given that, it probably comes down to your needs. You're going to have some people who are firmly Windows and others who are firmly Palm OS. I'm on my second Palm OS device and have been pleased after a few years with Windows.
I suggest heading into a store and snatching one up (I'd go with a Palm OS one) and playing with it. If it's definitely not what you want, head back before the trial period's up and switch OS's.

I started with the 650, when I switched carriers, I gave the Moto Q, with a Windows operating system a shot. I had that phone and I use the word phone there in a very literal sense. for 2 months, before I finally decided to give up on it. I travel a great deal, I drive truck in all 48 states, so I am changing time zones on a daily basis sometimes. The first thing I noticed is that it wouldn't change the time zones automatically. I found that odd, and tried to figure if it was a Moto glitch or a W/O glitch... to no avail. I found the calender to be far from workable. It would hang up from time to time. Now I've only had the Treo for a few days, and have loved every minute of it. Getting a few programs and applications and such has been a joy. With the Q, it was a hassle, not to mention there didn't seem to be the quality of things out there for it.
Long story short, Ive had both in the last week. I would go for the Palm O/S over Windows, it seems to function so much better.

We're big fans of the Palm OS. Much more streamlined, in our opinion. Very intuitive. If you know windows, you'll figure out the Palm OS in a minute.

Here's my input. I personally like PalmOS, though it's still in it's Garnett stage, I'll admit it is getting rather old, but along with new security updates, it's not much of a worry for me. PalmOS is pretty much straight-to-the-point, and then some! With Windows, personally I don't like to navigate though start menu's and folders, when you can just press the Application button in PalmOS. And so far, all Windows Mobile-based Treo has a smaller screen resolution 240x240, compared to PalmOS's screen resolution of 320x320. As for looks of the OS, Windows Mobile 5 & 6 has PalmOS Garnett beat.
