treo 700p owner! - Treo Forums

I got my treo about a month ago and I wanted to make my all in 1 tool for my everyday day use, so I could eliminate unnecessary electronics. But I'm having problems, I installed some programs, then my treo started crashing horribly so I uninstaled everything, but now whenever I try to hotsync it restarts. Please someone help me. My last option would be to hard reset but I dont want to lose all my precious data.

Welcome to ET. Sorry to hear you're having some issues. Just going off what you've posted, I'd guess you got a little happy installing new apps and some of them aren't playing well with each other/the 700p. What apps have you installed and were they definitely 700p versions?

How did you uninstall? Do you have an uninstaller app or did you use the standard launcher? If so, that could be part of the problem. The standard launcher's notorious for not getting rid of all residual files when "deleting" an app. A good uninstaller app or file manager is a must, and should be the 1st thing we load up.

Depending on how long ago your last successful sync was, you may not be losing everything. Check out the 700p forum and read the sticky about upgrading from the 650 to the 700p. The instructions include a way to upgrade without losing data which should serve you in the event of a hard reset.

You know what, I didnt actually think of it like that. My last sync was very successful, I might give the hard reset a try.

When you do, bear in mind the part about adding apps back one at a time. That way, you should be able to isolate what might have caused your original problem.

Will the apps that came with the phone be available like, sprint tv, on demand, e.t.c And what exactly will get deleted, so I know what to backup

The only apps that will be missing are any 3rd-party apps you've installed. Apps in the Treo's ROM will still be there.

And take his advise - install an "installation manager" such as Uninstall Manager - it is the big guy on the block. Ben
