Default Yet another new member looking to upgrade frm 650

Howdy all, I've been a fan since the 600. My carrier is Sprint. My OS is still Palm. I have heard about the change re: the SD card sizes and relocation of the camera. I have a printer and a picture frame that uses reg. SD cards. Is there an adapter for the mini or micro? I really use it to access the 'net for info, and to manage personal info. Music and ebooks are my next interest. I've read the comparisons at the Palm site and a few other postings here, but all I've managed to do is confuse myself more.

Recommendations?

Default Hi and Welcome

I'm a 650 user that just went Centro. I must say I like the form factor. I even got used to the new phone app, allthough I read about some people trying to put the old 650 phone app on the Centro. The keyboard is minute and takes some time to get used to. Some folks here on ET claim that the 650/680/755 size is as small as you should ever make a keyboarded smartphone. Maybe, if there was an unlocked GSM version I would have settled for the 755, but as there isn't one Centro will have to do for me. It is nice that it is a small phone. Actually it's about the same size some of the other brands have selected for their smallest "smartphones", although I don't see anything smart coming on the symbian or WM/PPC plattforms. Techfilled yeah, but smart, no.

If you can type on a small keyboard I would go for the Centro. The 320x320 res on that small screen makes it really crisp. The speaker is great. Unfortunatelly I haven't had the chance to really listen in to the ptunes app with my Sennheiser earphones to judge it.

And don't worry, when you buy a SDmicro card you get the adapter to SD along with it, (most of the times anyway, the card on the expansys homepage had one.)

Good luck choosing.

/T

Thanks, it means a lot to hear from a user versus reading reviews and charts. Since the 800 is still a rumor and will run Windows, I guess the unlocked 755 is my best choice. I really don't think I want to go smaller. I'll handle it, though.

I went from a 700P to a Centro. My wife has had a Centro for about 6 months and I played with it once in a while, but not too much. One day I sat down and started playing with it with the intention of setting it up much like my 700P. After doing that, which took a couple of days, I found that I had adjusted to the smaller, more compact key pad and that the screen, even small as it is, was not the factor I thought it would be.

Differences between the 755 are not great. Size and free memory are the big differences. In addition, the Centro has an extended battery that requires a different cover - looks a little odd, but delivers exceptional battery life.

My 700P and now the Centro are used for hours at a time with HanDBase, Documents to Go, ChatterEmail and a few other applications - no problems at all and it is a very stable device.

Ben
