ACT for Palm OS on Treo 650 I use ACT for Palm OS (not the ACT Link) on my Cingular Treo 650. While I can't speak for the 700 with Windows, I will tell you the issues that I am having with the Palm version. I chose the Palm version because of the huge availablity of third party software and I have used Palm products in the past. My desktop version, ACT 2006, has about 1450 contacts that I sync to my Treo. I travel a couple days a week and use it relentlessly. I purchased ACT for Palm OS to have my calendar, tasks and address book in one place along with my notes and histories. I too have been a long time ACT user and hate the thought of giving it up. However...
I have two major issues with the OS software. First I can't tap the 30-day calendar view without the Treo locking up. I have to perform a soft reset to get it running. To corrct this, about every 10 days to two weeks, I have to delete and re-install the OS version. The second issue is that the desktop version will not open on my PC. My data syncs but I cannot open the app after the inital installation. So far, all the data transfers and I continue to use it. I am 99.999% sure it is not my PC. I have a pretty beefy IBM and have not had one issue with it in almost a year.
I have called ACT (Sage Software) for support and will tell you not to waste your time. They don't understand that they have two Palm products. ACT Link that matches your data to the Palm address book and ACT for Palm OS which is the version that gives you ACT functionality on the Palm. The first two hour session they had me delete and re-install everything only to my surprize that they were working on ACT Link. The second session they got everything working correctly and 5-minutes after I hung up the phone, I had the same issues.
I suppose to answer your question I would move forward but with caution.
Thanks,
