Any info about T700w GSM? or 700P ?
Hi everybody, I´m wondering when this models may be released, because I am an international user from outside US.
And we use GSM (for better or worse).
Also I wanna know if somebody have info about the 700 Palm OS, the features, etc.
Greetings from the south of the world.

I believe Verizon has a 6 month exclusive on the 700w so another 5 months before there is even a chance. I recall with the 650 it was a Cingular or Sprint exclusive first and took about 9 months before the Palm store offered the GSM unlocked/unbranded version.
As for the 700p, it's still only rumors and speculation. Recently I heard a discussion about the next Treo with a Palm OS would be the new Palm/Linux OS they've been working on. Either way I'm guessing (and it's only a guess) it will be a year or more before we see the 700p. I was hoping we'd get a Treo running Cobalt but that's starting to look like it won't happen and Cobalt will die on the vine.

Firmware update... 700p soon?
According to a blog topic at another Palm-related site, the Treo 650 firmware update (just released for Sprint) will occur around the time Palm announces the 700p for Sprint. The author of the post also states that the firmware will be for all Treo 650 carriers, which is incorrect unless other firmware updates are immediately forthcoming. This casts some doubt as to the accuracy of the Sprint 700p rumor, but a Q1 700p is still a possibility.

When, oh when, will T-Mobile get one of these 6-month exclusives on a new Treo model? Ever? Never? They just don't seem interested in Treos. I'm mystified. I can't even count the number of people I know who dumped their old carrier and went Verizon to get the 700w. I really like my T-Mo service, but waiting for Palm to release the GSM unlocked version of these new goodies is absolutley killing me!

TMobile has not carried PalmOS Treos since the 600 and there has not been any indication that it would be changing. For you to get an unlocked one from Palm and then drop in your SIM card would work, but you might not have great support if you run into an issue not related to software/hardware but is network dependant.
Late April or May for availabiltiy would be around Palm's normal schedule. And dont worry, items will be here before you know it.

I am also waiting for an unlocked GSM version with Palm OS.
I am on Cingular. My reason for waiting is that I have a company paid for phone plan and they only authorize a very narrow range of standard phones. The beauty of the GSM phones is the SIM card that can be easily transferred from phone to phone without need for activation by the phone carrier. (There is always a way to beat 'Big Brother'. Ha!) Verizon phones need to be activated by the owner of the plan, which is not me!
Another reason I am waiting for a Palm based phone is that I am a Mac user and I imagine it would be more compatible with my Mac rather than the Windows CE offered by the evil empire.

tmobile testing t700
I am a tmobile customer and have been for a while, their service works well with all the international travel etc, and business. Anyway, I need a new phone and really want to get a treo, so i called tmobile and they were no help, telling me that since there were so many problems with the 600 they didnt know when the next treo would come. So i decided to call a few of the local tmobile stores just to get views from a few people. They all tried to sell me a bb 8700 or the "mda", anyway after i called the second store there was one guy who let me in on a little secret, apparently he said quote on quote, "i know tmobile is currently testing the treo 700, and he had no idea when it would be available but did verify this. I thought this was interesting and should post, since we all know verizon has the 6 month exclusivity thing, there apparently is a treo underway for tmobile, so i think i am just going to wait and see what treo and tmobile have up their sleeves, it has been a while since a treo was available through through them and i am excited to see what turns up.

I'm of the opinion that we'll have to wait for Palm to sell them on their web site in order to get one of the 700' to use with T-Mobile. On the bright side, we get to read all about the faults and omissions before we can get one. Maybe something better will come along in the meantime. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Gotta to love the 700p
For the sprint users out there, i think they'll appreciate what the 700p will bring to the floor. Not a lot of enhancements for cellularphone use but enough.

Looks like October

According to this posting at Engadget Mobile, it looks like October will be the month that GSM versions of the 700w & 700p show up for Cingular. It appears that Cingular has either requested a more refined form factor or Palm has decided to remove the external antenna stub. The 'Lennon' model will be the 700w and the 'Nitro' model will be the 700p.
I guess the real question becomes what kind of data capabilities for the 700p model? HSDPA? UMTS? EDGE? GPRS? Recently a Palm executive claimed that it would be a challenge to make a 700p for GSM as HSDPA/UMTS would allow for simultaneous data & voice transmissions, something the Palm OS cannot handle well because of its single-threaded origins (and the same reason Palm GSM devices have yet to support WiFi as an integrated solution).
