Default Buying quandry 700 vs 750

I'm one of those frustrated Cingular owners with a 600 trying to decide what to do. Can someone summarize the relative advantage of waiting for the 750 rather than switching providers for a 700 now. I assume GSM is really only an advantage should I travel a lot, and my 600 is so near death that I don't know if I can wait until November to upgrade to the 750. I'm pretty neutral on the Windows vs Palm issue, although it sounds like the implmentation of windows on the 750 may be more robust than the 700.

Do you have a large amount of 3rd party apps on your Treo 600? Something to consider, if you switch platforms, you will most likely use those apps.

Really no. Although I tend to maximize my use of most of my computing devices, I haven't really fully utilized the power of my Treo, but I'm finding my needs expanding to take more advantage of it. Is the implementation of WM in the 700w that much inferior to the WX and the 750? R

Question Same buying quandry

I didn't see another reply from Chris the administrator(?) I am also limping along with a 600 Palm Treo with Cingular. My only 3rd party app is Epocrates that I use all the time. I am a doc and need the info for work. Can you give any advice on the 700 vs 750. (My preference is GSM because I occasionally travel.) Is there an advantage of the 750 Nitro over the Windows platform 750 if I can wait for the the 750? I have only worked with Palm software and have avoided Windows because of the software bugs.

Palm has a comparison chart on their site. http://www.palm.com/us/products/compare/
missing are the 680 and the 750 since they aren't available in America yet . .

The 750 is pretty much the same as the 700W, in a slightly slimmer , antenna-less case. All seem to have their advantages and disadvantages.

I thought that maybe this chart would help you decide.

I finally bought a 700w on Verizon. A lot of people seem dissatisfied wit this particular windows mobile implementation, however I'm really pleased with the purchase. I'm a consultant managing 10 or more projects at a time, and just the improved email functionality, broadband access through my laptop, and the greatly improved phone quality make this an extremely good purchase. I guess I could have gone with the 700wx and Sprint but I was a Sprint user previously and had coverage issues with them.

Because my 600 was very troublesome, including interference with various elecronic devices and very poor phone quality towards the end, I am probably not a fair comparison to the 750, and I'm sure the improvements it would bring. Also as to the Palm vs Windows issue, I have to say the implementation of windows on the Treo doesn't really impress me all that much. It's fine and generally functional for what I do, but there the today screen is a little cramped on the smaller screen of the treo, and it seems really designed for a larger screen PDA device.

My real dissatisfaction is with Cingular, who did not value those of us who had stuck with them with 2-3 year old phones enough to try to get their implementation of the 700/750/680 out in a timely manner. I've been waiting for an treo upgrade through them for 9 months living on rumours, and it finally became an issue of professional survival to at least buy something. Maybe if they should offered a "customer return" special that includes payment of my early termination fee with verizon I would think about buying into a 750.

As a Cingular customer, I won't argue with the comments either, but I will say, that I think all carriers have an attitude that they will do anything to get you in contract. But they really don't seem to care to keep you past your contract. Read the fine print on some of the promotions that they all run. They apply to new customers only. Existing customers don't qualify . . . This really burns me up. Does cingular not care that I have been a customer for 4 years and have paid my bills on time? The really sweat deals should come to the loyal customers. Sorry, I almost went into a rant there . . .

Music or Audio

Hey all,

I agree with stillrockin'. Excuse the expression but those of us who have stuck with Cingular for the past few years are always treated like redheaded stepchildren by the company. This is why they are pushing me to consider buying the unlocked 680 so that I can just pick up and go when I want. (And take all the other four lines with me.) Maybe that will light a fire under their.....

Default Cingular 750?

I'm hearing conflicting reports about whether or not Cingular will be releasing a PalmOS Treo 750. The 'sneak peek' photos of the 680 this fall also showed 750 pics, but there's nothing on the web dated later than that.

Managers at Cingular kiosks and stores have told me that there's 'something better' than the 680 coming out - today, I heard "within two months". On other forums, I've heard that there will definitely be a 750 Windows version from Cingular. Does anyone have positive info on a Cingular 750p?

Thanks.
