I apologize... I was thinking that it only worked with the models listed on the site. But the software was introduced on that site in august of 2007...

Yup, just for the Palm software. If you have windows on your palm...try: http://www.wired.com/entertainment/m.../2006/02/70150 Its an excellent article on stopping to pay for ringtones and offers a few open source programs like audacity. Hope it helps.

The 700wx allows you to make songs ringtones without having to install any other software.
Go into settings...Sounds and Notifications...Manage.
Then click menu... add... then navigate to your folder with your music and just pick a song and it will create a ringtone from the song.
