Just read this over at Mobility Today! The big news for me is that Palm is planning on releasing 3 NEW smartphones in the coming year! Thats 3 in addition to the 700W !!!!!!!! No real details, and we can speculate, but my guess is the rumor of the not so smart phone might be a real one . . . . Looks like Palm is doing many things right!

As for those three models, Lowrider and Hollywood are two; the thrid is probably the International but not US one that has been developed. Guesses are that one is WinMobile in order to compete in the EU and make inroads to Asia.

My guesses (only guesses, when I know stuff I am usually covered by NDA):
Lowrider: take the Z22, add a cellualr radio there is a $200 Treo 600ish device, but I doubt it would have the keyboard. If it does, the keys need to be bigger.

Hollywood: take the T5/TX, make the 650 1/4 less plump, add sliding keypad, and there you have one heck of a device. This would have to run the palmOS to be of best success. WinMob isnt ready for Hollywood lest one takes hollywood to mean DRM protections built in.

Just a guess, dont come at me if I am right or wrong :dry:

Thanks for the info! Hollywood sounds intriging for sure! I had heard of Hollywood, but had not heard of any particulars until now! Have you heard of any possible timeframe or what carriers it might debut under? Again, thanks! Anything not falling under NDA . . .

I honestly dont know anything yet. I am just putting pieces of many puzzles together, thats all. They are just guesses. I imagine that I havnet made any good guesses yet though, Palm hasnt told me to stop talking

The major difference is the 700W runs a Windows Mobile Operating System. The 700P will run the Palm Operating System. Most of us are assuming that the 700P will have a screen resolution of 320X320, Vs the 700W of only 240X240. Most people believe that as far as form factor goes, both units will use the same shell, and keyboard buttons will also be the same shape . . . Insiders believe that Ram/Rom for the 700P will be at least that of 700W.
