New Palm OS
Does Palm have any plans of developing a new smartphone with the palm OS other than the centro, possibly the Treo 800 in a palm os platform would be great!!! Windows Mobile will not run the 3rd party apps for work that I have. Thanks.

The Palm OS is dead. Next out of the door is its Linux release, somntime in 2009. There is an application in the Windows Mobile world called Style Tap that runs Palm OS applications (does not support the 5-way).

Couldn't Hold Out Any Longer
I couldn't wait any longer on Palm to come up with their next gen software/phones. Bummer. I've been a loyal Palm user for many years, but they have been too slow to come out with new & innovative products.
I just bought an HTC Touch Pro & it is unbelievable! Palm, I'll see you in 2 years when my contract is up... Maybe.

Yes, I fully appreciate the move. I am on my 2nd 800W and the lower portion of the key pad has been having problems to a minor extent for a couple of weeks. The specific problem: the space bar key lost the tactile feedback - worked but you could not feel the key responding. Yesterday, the entire bottom row lost the tactile feedback. Right now it is better, but the space bar itself does not feel right. Back in to the store today and who knows what I walk out with. I do like the 800W style; but the key pad does have a problem.

Alright benjie, you're the guru here. What did you walk out with? ???
I have been a LONG time Palm supporter, back to the days of my original Palm Pilot. I originally bought the Palm to run Franklin Covey's Plan Plus software and have continuously and faithfully upgraded ever since. I now find my work taking me to Florida and am searching for a new carrier / (dare I say) phone. I have been looking seriously at the new Blackberry Storm.
I need some help. Is Palm coming out with a new phone and software? Or should I be looking at the BB?

The Touch Pro was on display, though their inventory was none - I am on the list. Anyway, just after I left, the replacement 800W came in, so I picked it up the next day.
There is no official release date on the new Palm/Linux device, we all just have to wait. As for new devices, the Centro Centro has been updated to have over 128MB of main memory and that is good. There is of course the Windows phones, the 800, the Pro and Sprint is suppose to have a CDA Pro coming out soon. As you look to upgrade, remember that all devices have their issues - none are perfect. My wife has had 2 BB devices and she prefers the Centro. I prefer the Centro; however, multitasking is a feature I want and hence I am staying with the 800W until the Touch Pro becomes available in my area, then who knows....

I am probably going to the ATT store today and look at the epix, and the fuze and whatever else they have there. I am hpong that in Decemver they have the treo pro at att but I am wondering if that will happen and if so at what price. They seem to be getting a whole slew of wm 6.1 smartphones already at ATT Making me wonder if they will have enough room at the crowded table for the pro.

I love palm. seriously.. .love it

Well I went to ATT a week or so ago they told me that the computer showed the pro release date on ATT sometime in December. If so its a well kept secret. I played around with an epix and liked it for the most part. They did not have a fuze to get touchy feely with but I am not really high on sliders like that. They were trying to steer me to an iphone and I went no create office mobile files no way. With some of cracking issues with the pro I am not sure about it. LG incite reviews not good. I am thinking maybe a Bold or Curve BB Not sure about the non touch screen thing though.

I bought a touch and that lasted for 2 days. I sold it and I'm on my treo 755 again. I can see where windows would be good,But it was slow, had to reset more then my 755, But i did like a lot of the features. O well, I'll wait and see what palm comes out with in the next couple months and figure out what to do.
