    Default PalmOS anyone?

    Seen this rumor?

I can't/won't believe the Treo 650 represents the pinnacle of PalmOS smartphone development. It's the first Hi-Res PalmOS smartphone, for Pete's sake, how could it also be the last?!

I think that article is pure speculation. Did you notice the "main" quote about deciding on one device...
While Palm looks set to continue shipping Palm OS 5 handhelds for the near future, Wirt admitted there would have to be a cut-off point. "At some point in the future, we would obviously prefer to be on one platform," he said.

    Who is Ken Wirt?

Ken Wirt is Palm's Senior VP of Marketing and GM of Palm Handhelds (bio). Although in my eyes that gives his opinion some credence, I agree that the article seems speculative. I also didn't realize that there was a Linux implementation of PalmOS in the works. Fascinating.

That would make him a credible source.
