While I can't comment on real estate software I have used both Palm OS (started out on Palm OS) and WM OS. In terms of overall softare they are about equal and now developers are working on the WM5 updates. If you wait for the Treo 700w or any WM5 device make sure you know the upgrade policy so you don't get stung on upgrading.

Both are easy to use at least to me and WM5 while on Verizon initially does in my view offer the better value. With EV-DO you get faster connectivity to data and thats the value. They also have a much larger EV-DO build out compared to Sprint. Cingular is still running Edge which is alot slower.

So I would wait for the 700w if for nothing else to make sure you spend your money the right way. Also if the "rumors" are true then a new PalmOS Treo is due out in May or there abouts and would have EV-DO.

Has anyone heard any speculation on when the Treo 700p will be released?

Smile how about a few basics

I'm all for technological improvements on the 700W, but how about a couple basics where the Treo misses.
Like, why not make the audio out jack a normal size mini plug (instead of a 2.5mm phone plug), so i don't have to use an adapter everytime i want to listen to music on my headset, which is most times, since the external speaker isn't what you'd call hi-fidelity. Since the Treo is bluetooth, wouldn't most folks want a bluetooth phone headset? And if not, they should because it's awesome, and if not they should be the ones to use an adapter, not the other way around. Wouldn't that most economically make use of the Treo's features? yes, I have an ipod (who doesn't?) but one of the reasons i bought the Treo was so i wouldn't have to carry it (and my palmpilot and my cell phone) around everywhere.
Does anyone know if they fixed this on the new 700?
In the future, I'd like to see more basic and ergonomic issues taken care of...camcorder audio quality, the audio out plug size, side volume controls going to sleep, >1 megapixel camera (plus, of course, faster web access). I can live without the Windows part, since I use Mac and the Treo syncs seamlessly with Apple's Safari and Mail apps. I would pay more $$ if everything they offered worked deluxe. Does anyone else have ergonomic issues with the Treo that they'd like to see addressed?
And my wishes for the "ultimate Treo"...think hinges.

One of the other Treo sites is saying that Sprint will release the 700p in January. Apparently, a investment firm (who are large shareholders in Palm) leaked the details.

No, no one can answer as no one knows, or is able to say without breaking an NDA if they do know. Hearing that the 700w would support EVDO lends a possiblity that the GSM 700 would support UTMS at the very least.

Update from an Engadget article. Looking like March 2006, and will likely be Sprint only (@*&^%$@$*! ... but hey, what'd we expect, right?).

P.S. Chris, how about a new forum called "Treo 700p chatter" or "Future Products" (like AppleInsider has)? 700p stuff doesn't really have any proper home. Just a thought.

According to what we have heard Sprint will not get the Treo 700 until after Jan 31. Also if it helps anyone that might be trying to figure out to either get a Palm based or Windows based. I have used both the Treo 650 and the PPC-6700. Both of them are really neat and useful phones. The biggest thing is to think of what you are used to now. Since I have mostly used windows products then the PPC-6700 has a better flow, but on the other hand the Treo is great in its own way as well. For me if I had to decide I would use a Windows based instead of the Palm only because that is what I am used to. Hope this helps a little bit.

Good idea. Is it safe to say it will carry the 700p name?

Anyone else hear any other buzz?
