3G technology has already made its way in europe.....if we are to wait for the cell phone compnies to gear up then it will be a wait, one, two year?
I guess we will all have to wait for the Las Vegas Show on Jan 5th to see what Palm really has in store. Anybody going down there?
I already saw the Socket Go WiFi advertised in this treo store for the 700? Why don't they make it for the 650? The 700 not even here yet?

Love the photo Chris, but I am not hoping to upgrade so soon to a 700. (Well, hoping not to, so we shall see).
Gonna take my Treo with me on a three country tour which will send me to europe andd N. America. I am going to put the Treo through it's paces...different SIM cards, battery life, call reception, etc. Wish me luck!
I have loaded all the photos, addresses and the tasks and calendar thus far and am able to sync and use Avantgo.com. Things seem to work well. One question though, since I did register, will I be notified when there is an update for my PalmOne troe automatically? Or do I need to search for them?
Geo
By the way, couldn't resist to make a new e-mail address....

Noticed the email too, quite kool
Concerning the 700w, you wont want that. Its CDMA and you need GSM if you are a country hopper. At least until the next Samsung world phone makes it to VZW (CDMA in US, GSM the rest of teh world) that's the way things are.

I'm planning on "test driving" the 700w when it comes out, so that i can provide coverage for the site. My "lucky" wife is getting the 650 - this will be her first smartphone. She used to have a Blackberry, but it wasn't very bright.

That sounds like fun! I hope that you'll still be stopping by ET and letting us know how you are doing!

I believe you have to connect for Avantgo to update your Treo. It's been a while since I've used Avantgo.

Nice! You might want to delete it or at least remove the link from your post. That's a sure fire way to get spam. Not from ET (since you'll never get SPAM from ET), but from spambots that circulate websites scouting for email addresses.
BTW, my Isles are up in Ottawa tonight. 6-2 Sens is a safe bet.

Yeah, I think I might look at....just look at a 700p (PamOS) if it came out....just looking mind you. It would have to be GSM. It's the best way, right now for cell phones.
I will try to update you at ET to see how all is going with the Treo.
Let's see what happens.....let us know Chris when you are testing the 700w.
Peace,
Geo

I rather agree. GSM doesn't look like it's going anywhere anyway. Plus it's too well established. I figure tried and true works for me. Heh...although I am looking at the 700w. However, I'm currently using a pre-production version of the Treo 180. Funky-Clunky flip screen and all
. I'll be waiting out for sure on some info on the 700p, as I'm really enjoying a lot of my simple apps currently (ie a sick graphing calculater *nerd*). It's the WMP that's really drawing my attention over a palm version...

Haven't seen anyone talking about the ability to send a Text Message response back to the caller instead of picking up the call. This was supposedly somehting that couldn't be done on the 650 (which Tyler Faux quickly debunked with SharkMsg) that was supposed to be native on the 700w. Did it make the cut?

Yes, it's a feature that's found on the 700w. I supposed now that SharkMsg made it possible on the Palm OS Treo
, that we'll see Palm include it in the 700p.

According to a post at TreoCentral, Palm has included that functionality in an upcoming ROM/FM update for 650 models (in that thread a leaked Chinese/Eng FW has it, though not as configurable as SharkMSg's).
PS: great review of the 700w Chris.
