If this is indeed the new 700p, I really like the layout of the buttons. Applications has grown up to a main button and the menu buttons handle double duty as "menu's" and answer/hangup.
Phone itself appears to be same physical dimensions as 700w which is not a drastic change from 650. Looks like Bluetooth is now 2.0.

Looks like somebody just 'dropped' a 700p after the 800p rumors flew all around the globe. How funny. depressing it looks like it has no built in wifi but we expected that right? 64mb ram was the obvious upgrade. not bad. ok phone but really not impressive especially with no built in wifi. they will probably want an arm and a leg for it. palm os is dead.

Dont wanna trun this into a TreoCentral kinda site, but I will throw my hat into this discussion here some...
Not really revolutionary except for the RAM and the specs given on DBCache size (greater than 10MB) these two items alone will make for a better device than what the 650 is in terms of being a data device. I dont know that I like the move of the buttons, but sinice they were going to use the same design as the 700w, they had to do something. I think it might prove to be a better move; things tend to happen like that once you unlearn a bit.
Should be a lot more efficient with battery life because of a newer processor running at the same speed. I'd imagine that system performance would be snappier too.
My personal hopes would be that a new version of Blazer would bring functionality similar to that which was demoed with the PalmSource 3 web browser (shrink mode-like Opera but readable; full compliancy to web specs; and tabbed browsing).
I imagine that some of the bits of the interface may change some, hopefully including a today screen that is more functional (license PocketCraft's Facer and that would be the case).
All in a a very interesting move. I dont know if it would be enough for me to move from my 650, but it is tempting enough at this stage of rumors to make me consider that much.

Smart Phone Idiot
Even though many might view the 700P as an "incremental" upgrade, I see a couple of pluses for current 600/650 owners . . . One is, it appears that most software developed for the Palm platform would be compatible with the 700P. (I wonder if Volume Care is still a must?) Moving buttons around? Like a lot of things, its what you get used to . . . Any heavy 650 user is not going to like it! But through daily use, you adjust . . . Also, many cases should be compatible. If you drop your 650 in the toilet, and you have to upgrade, that 700P might be the way to go . . . . If I understood that thread correctly, it sounds like POCKET TUNES was located in the ROM?
The downside could be that many of those glitches, resets, bugs, screen freezes, etc might still be common . . .

If I'm correct, the inclusion of Bluetooth 2.0 will allow voice dialing through a Bluetooth headset. If you're using TomTom, will this new version allow uninterrupted use with a Bluetooth headset.

Chris,
And I assume this will be speculation.... but do you think the BT 2.0 will be a "blanket" type of change and apply to all carriers? Also, could ANY BT headset work 2 way, after that? The Nokia I use with my 650 is only BT 1.1...
And on a side note.... the 700p is starting to sound a bit stronger than the 700w... (that is, what I've seen in all the forums I've bounced around here in... )
Thanks for keeping up with everything!

Some confirmation?
There's a thread at another Treo BB started by a guy who apparently has a 700p. This looks to have been authenticated by Shadowmite, who extraced the bootloader that was e-mailed to him:
Palm Treo 700p
Palm Media Application V
3.52006:02:03 13
The device digest:
62.8 mb memory
EV-DO
1.3 camera
Garnet 5.4.9
Sprint
Bluetooth x.x (I can't find confirmation)
320x320 screen
Regarding Blazer, according to the owner the new version is much faster.

P.S. Don't bother going to that thread; it's mostly pointless chatter (32 pages and 1245 posts of it!). I included it for informational purposes only.

Cant wait for the 700p. I just hope the bluetooth 2.0 solves the volume problem with all these headsets. I on my 4th one now.

Has the 700p been OFFICIALLY confirmed yet? I thought they werent releasing a 700p but instead a phone codenamed "HOLLYWOOD" that would be smaller and a strictly GSM relase. Any OFFICIAL documentation on any of this stuff would be very helpful in clearing up the rumors!
